""Some "conservatives" have a problem with democracy. It's a bit messy and prevents them from nuking brown people.""

This is a perfect illustration of the demeaning, caustic commentary that I've seen on FR of late. But it isn't directed against the President or his wife - rather, it's directed against the people that want to preserve our republic by stopping the invasion of illegal aliens. The message of this post, and many others is that if one doesn't like having illegal aliens invading this country, they must be some kind of lessor human - perhaps a racist, a troll, a DUmmy, or some other equally demeaning term.

The illegal alien issue IS the dividing wedge issue. Frankly, it's incredibly odd to me that many freepers and apparently the forum's leadership are taking such a strong stance in favor of allowing the invasion to continue. Destroying our republic is decidedly NOT a conservative principle.

"[C]ome the November elections, the Republican Party may get exactly what it deserves from disgusted voters—namely, a swift kick in the pants. Whereas, on [the other] hand, it is necessary to ask whether the voters deserve what they'd get by giving the Republicans what they deserve." —William Murchison

Pukin, I have not seen any posts on your part, which reflect a change of position on illegal aliens, but I will take your word and I applaud you for that.

I was a witness to it. The conversion was stunning given that PD had been fighting for some time with those opposed to illegal immigration. He'd even admitted to hiring illegal aliens and stated that he'd do it again. But he saw the ugliness of the marxist-organized marches of illegal aliens in our streets, he heard the words of the march organizers and the leaders of their movement, and he had an epiphany. Others have had that same epiphany much earlier, it will come to others later. PD has come a long way on this issue. So has the President. Both could stand to move a little further on this issue, but we have to be patient and let it happen.

It is a divisive issue, but then so was the Mier's appointment. It is easy to say, "Let's be pragmatic, and allow amnesty." That however is like trying to sweep an elephant under your rug. The long term consequences are too profound, and many wanting amnesty want to stop the debate. Let's be respectful, but continue with the debate.

Amen.

Perhaps because most of us who vocalize our displeasure are being called traitors and Democrat operatives. You are now attacking those who have only been members since '04.

Do you call President Bush "Jorge," or a "traitor?"

If so, then you merit nothing less than attacks.

Are you here to divide, conquer, demoralize and advocate a GOP defeat in November?

If so, then you deserves attacks.

Were you sent here by the DNC and it's branches in '04?

If so, then you deserve attacks.

If we're not in this effort for the long haul, then we will eventually lose.

Another good rant, Pukin. And Victor, I'm with you on this. We have to be in it for the long haul. Those folks who want to stay home in Nov to teach somebody a lesson need to rethink what that means. Pukin is right, no one is perfect. How do we throw over Republicans and let Dims in again? I don't see where that gets us.

And as for third parties, I've voted Libertarian in several state and federal elections. I wish I could do so again, but I WANT DIMS OUT OF OFFICE. That's it. And I'm not going to get that by voting Libertarian or Constitution Party or whatever. I'm probably more conservative than GWB, but you know what? He's still my President, still my man, and I support him.

Look at the words they[the newbie Freepers] use, the tone of their posts, and if some posts read familiar, they're retreads.

Well golly gee...we'll just keep ourselves at the back of the bus then and enjoy the wisdom and enlightenment of '03-and-earlier crowd. (alright, I admit that was a little over the top, but you get my drift. I do respect the ol' timers a lot.)

Every FReeper has the right to request that another FReeper leave them alone. I have no special 'Pukin Privileges' even though some of you think I do, and has led to me even joking about it, just to tweak you.

FReepers have requested that I not post to them, and I adhere to their wishes. None of us need be harassed by others against their will.

Write this down, Tex. ANYONE CAN DISAGREE WITH PUKIN DOG.

except Rokke.

That's the sad part, that he has to be forced to do things that should come natural to a conservative (whose party happens to have control of all three branches). We shouldn't have to be wasting our energy fighting him. We should be able to be fighting along side him against the Democrats.

I can't disagree with you. It is sad that we have to apply so much pressure on the President just to get him to listen to his Republican base. I wish it were not so.

>>You mean like racist? bigot? democrat?

Too many on both sides of the issue engage in it. I sure as heck didn't start doing it by a long shot. I can debate the issue civilly. I can name 3 off the top of my head on the other side that couldn't do that if their lives depended on it.<<

Yep, that would be the sort of thing.... My guess is whoever started it was probably banned back in '97.

Here's my take:

A dam has a leak. There's a plug in the dam, but it's not sufficient - some water is still getting through. We're waiting on the best plug for the leak, but it's not here yet.

Those who would rather vote in a Democrat because they're angry at the inferior Republicans in office, essentially want to pull out the inferior plug and let the entire dam collapse.

Guess what? If you do that, when the new plug arrives it will be too late:

There will be Nothing Left to Save.

I, and many (most) other conservatives, want to keep the inferior plug in until the right one arrives -- thus minimizing the damage.

As an aside -- NOTHING will ever make me stay home from the polls. I fully appreciate the awesome rights I have in this country, and I don't intend to ever squander my vote.

People died and are dying for the right to vote and I will never take it for granted.

There should be an internet dictionary. "Lose" and "loose" will now swap meanings. "Ridiculous" will be replaced with "rediculous". "George" will be replaced with "Jorge"...

As to you, you need some new talking points which to shoot down. The same tired old ranting gets old.

What same old talking points? You're not even in the same conversation.

I didn't say DeLay "hit the road." I said the GOP "threw him under a bus."

You want to quote my posts and criticize my posts, that's fine! If you want to "make up" "quotes" and then criticize that, no need to ping me!

I welcome your "fresh new talking points." What is the answer for re-organizing party rules to make primaries more competitive for more conservative candidates to keep incumbents from morphing into RINOs?

No, it was not a spurious charge, sir. What you have accused people of in this thread and other threads is disgusting.

And by the way, you seem to be a hypocrite in this regard. You are the King of false accusations and calling people names.

Respectfully,
Ninofan
