(WSBT) It snuffed-out lighting-up in St. Joseph County, but now there's a fight over an amendment to the smoking ban.
Tuesday morning County Commissioners vetoed an amendment that would have let some businesses have a smoking room for their workers.
The two commissioners who voted down the amendment say it's really a matter of people's health. Cindy Bodle and Steve Ross say they supported the ban in the first place because they wanted people to have cleaner air in public places.
Some businesses had complained that workers should have a place to smoke as long as it's separated from the public, and a few lawmakers voiced concerns that employees who work late at night shouldn't have to stand out in the dark to smoke.
The commissioners’ vote was 2-1. Mark Dobson supported the amendment. He says the smoking ordinance was never meant to reach into private businesses.
“The intrusion into private businesses has always bothered me,” Dobson told NEWS22. “A business aught to have a right, a private business that's not serving the public that doesn't have a tremendous amount of people coming in and out ought to have the right to be able to put a smoking room in if they want to.”
Commissioners have likely weighed-in for the last time on the amendment. The issue now goes back to the St. Joseph County Council, which will have the final word whether to override the veto.
Well then maybe the two soviet commizars er i mean commissioners should quit their government jobs and go work for the w.h.o. oh wait that wont work the w.h.o. already released a report a few years back stating that second hand smoke doesnt have any health risks and is actually benificial to a certain segment of the population

These county commissars are flippin idiots and have been in office forever. This is a big blue county in Indiana. Everyone from the draft dodgin mayor to the dog catcher think they know what's best for zee sheeple.
Under the Socialist regime they wish to impose, there is no difference between public and private. It's all whatever the elite says.
People better stop worrying about the Patriot Act and some possible future loses by it, their liberties have been being taken away with their full knowledge and support for years now.
