Shun anyone who compares the US border to the Berlin Wall.

I don't recall the President of the day requiring immigrants coming thru Ellis Island to learn to speak English in the 1920's. Of course I was not alivethen but I do not recall seeing anything in history books on it.
It did seem odd to me that this sort of statistic would even be possible. The trend in "PC" lawmaking and law enforcement recently is to make it illegal to gather statistics which might cast an unfavorable light on certain races or ethnic groups...
However, general statistics on retail sales and shoplifting losses sounded plausible.
Just doing the job that anti-Americans won't do.
Very successfully, I might add. We had the false information corrected within minutes!
Don't you wish the main lamestream media, with their "professional" resources, could do as well and as efficiently (to say nothing of "honestly")?

I get it now, that's why we have "For Yiddish, Press #1, For Italian Press #2, For Polish Press #3, For Italian Press #4, etc. etc."
I find it interesting that some of these folks, mostly who have signed up in the last few years, have attacked GW with lies on here regarding spending, ports and borders, for starters. Makes ya wonder... Peach pointed out the other day (I don't have the link) how in a book where Jim did the forward that it was mentioned how Clinton (or Crinton) people were going to get on here to shape public policy, I think...
Let's give NY to the Italians, NJ to the Jews, Florida to the Cubans, Texas to the Mexicans, California to the Asians, Georgia to the African Americans, Massachusetts to people who talk funny, Minnesota to the Norwegians....
Now that is supposed to be humor, but I think allot of people are over reacting thinking that we are a few years from that happening.
I'm not sure what your point was intended to be here, but I think it got garbled.
To set "history" straight, coming through Ellis Island was selective back then; the percentage of rejects (and immediate(!) shipment back home) was scandalously high by our current PC standards. The objective was to enhance our country, or at the very least not lower the general cultural and economic health.
Most importantly of all, there was then an implicit expectation that was taken for granted:
The immigrants themselves made it a crucial goal to learn English as quickly as possible, because without that there were no jobs to be had, and starvation was a real risk. There was no "nanny" state then, particularly for non-citizens, and the only "safety net" were private charities which, could and did, expect minimum effort from the recipients to enable continued help over extended periods.
The creation of the nanny state, and the relaxation of minimum requirements for acceptance as legal immigrants created the monster we are fighting today.
No requirement was necessary. The immigrants of those days were eager to assimilate, learn English and become Americans. A far cry from the illegals of today.
Estimates of cost range from 4 to 7 billion dollars for the entire thing. Compared to the 25 billion spent so far on the Big Dig in Boston it seems like a bargain to me.
My personal problem is with the RINOs in the Senate. Their bill is a disaster and simply must be stopped IMO.
Some of the stuff going on here is over the top, but it's not all one sided. We have one guy comparing a border wall to the frigging Berlin Wall for crying out loud. That's just despicable in my view.
My sign up date is 1998, but I've been here longer than that. Anyone who wants to call me some kind of Clinton plant...well they can just step outside.
I've heard about what you suggest, but I haven't seen anyone name any names. Until that happens it's just a rumor to me.

All the nationalities listed never had that expectation nor made the suggestion that they were "entitled" to such. If such had happened, we would now be experiencing a "Balkanized" United States of America.
Never happened!
This irrational and culturally arrogant expectation seems to be exclusively a Mexican and recent phenomenon which, remarkably, has gained traction in certain segments of our population; mainly parasites themselves; e.g. "religions" and socialist-leaning "progressives".
Wondered who was going to catch that one. A bit uninteligible the other way around.
It's simple...Bush is President. We all know He wants to destroy America.
Don't look now but it already happened in Massachusetts ;-)
Oh please, Dane, TRY to use some brainpower. The Berlin Wall was built to keep people IN against their will.
We are trying to keep illegal invaders out.
yes, his greatness could snap his fingers and solve hundred year old problems. but that Bush is holding out on us... :)
Yes, Jim Robinson wrote the foreward for the book Hillary's Secret War and FR is mentioned prominently.
The book details how opinion shapers come to sites like this one to cause dissent. During the 90's, staffers in the Clinton WH were coming here to cause trouble.
