All countries have right to peaceful nuke tech Jordan
By Alia Shukri Hamzeh
AMMAN Foreign Minister Abdul Ilah Khatib on Wednesday said Jordan believed that all countries have the right to acquire nuclear technology for peaceful means and urged a diplomatic solution to Irans atomic problem with the West.
In principle, we support all countries right to attain nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, Khatib told a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki following talks.
He also urged avoiding escalation of tension over Irans nuclear programme, saying that the region was already under immense pressure.
King Abdullah, meanwhile, held talks with Mottaki and said Jordan backs a diplomatic and peaceful solution to Tehrans atomic issue and called for a nuclear-free Middle East, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The King added that the International Atomic Energy Agency should regulate nuclear power.
Resorting to force will lead to grave repercussions on the security and stability of the region, the King warned.
Countries in the region, especially the Gulf, have expressed unease at Irans nuclear power and fear that the US could influence a UN Security Council resolution to carry out a military strike against the neighbouring country.
Addressing the media yesterday, Mottaki appreciated Jordans support and reiterated that diplomatic means and dialogue were the only way to deal with rising tension over Irans legitimate right to make use of nuclear technology.
As long as nuclear energy is regarded as a positive and good thing for other countries, I dont see why we should not make use of that energy as well, said Mottaki, who was on a one-day visit to Jordan.
He reiterated that Iran wanted nuclear energy and not nuclear weapons.

and have the risk of being nuked in response
I don't got a problem with someone using a nuclear generating plant. But we all know that's not what they really want with all that stuff.
And since muslim countries have no desire for peace, that leaves them out, entirely!
