Would newspapers in the midst of World War II have printed the fact that the U.S. had broken German and Japanese codes, enabling the enemy to secure its communications?

Actually, they did.

The words are weltering on the tip of Mort's tongue. "Sedition." "Treason!"

Moderates and middle-of-the-roaders are going to have to actually use such terms openly, and in print, before the Dhimocrats will desist. (If then.)

Incorrect as usual for a lib nimrod. Its Political Correctness that undermines the war. If not for PC we could identify the enemy and put the hurt on him, and drain the sea in which he swims. But then again Washington DC is perhaps the most provincial city upon Earth and they learn nothing.

Show me the declaration of war.

There wasn't one.

There was some limp wristed gesture by the Congress that appeared in the form of a resolution.

It never reached the legal requirement of Declaration as provided for by the Constitution.

If he could do these things (and personally I wish he would), then I'm sure he would.

Lincoln did it (without a declaration), Every President who has been in office during a declared war has had the power to do it and some used it.

But Bush hasn't. I'd like to see the Force of the Govt used against these traitors and used like the Hammer of God on them.

Freedom of Speech is one thing, but this goes far beyond that. This is giving aid and comfort to the enemy in a time of war and Constitutionally speaking, that is the ONLY definition of Treason. Yet we don't arrest and try the traitors.

Bush is getting killed by "friendly fire" right now. The Dems can just sit back a laugh.

I like Mort and respect his dedication to his wife in her time of need. But now I find myself agreeing with Mort, and although the USA story is completely discredited it reinforces his point. It IS the end times, lies are treated as truth, evil as good, Democrats are touted as fiscally responsible, and now I agree with Mort. What is next; dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria? ;)

Exactly!!!

I can't help but want to yell at the top of my voice:

WHOEVER LEAKED THE INFORMATION NEEDS TO BE IN FRONT OF THE JUDICIARY!

The people who are leaking information are skating by as if nothing ever happened!? Why are we not hunting them down and prosecuting their sorry behinds!?

I have always wonder, between Mort and his little whipping buddie Fred Barnes , how many foreign born maids work in their million dollar homes.

"Yet we don't arrest and try the traitors."

The sad truth is this republic is too weak to protect itself from the 5th column in our midst.

It never reached the legal requirement of Declaration as provided for by the Constitution.

That it did. What it didn't do was use the magic words that invoke key laws on sedition and treason. ...Thus you are half-right.

If Aldrich Ames or Jonathan Pollard had been smart enough to let the Times be the middle man, they would be bouncing their grandkids on their knees, instead of rotting behind bars.

You are so right. The truth of this is like getting hit in the face with a rotten mackerel.

Actually, treason is always subject to the death penalty. YOu don't have to have a war.

The Constitution provides "what" for a declaration of war?

Can you give us the precise language specified there. Betcha' can't.

There is a law review article in the Harvard Law Review the analyzes the history of US armed conflict. Most have not had the benefit of a formal declaration of war. The legality of the conflict is established by the Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF). It is a declaration of war in all but name. The distinction between the AUMF and a formal declaration of war is a distinction without a difference, according to the article, which was very thorough and convincing on the point.

You can find it here and read it your own self.

Mort nails it. Because of the left-over detritus from the Vietnam era, it's quite possible that the U.S. is incapable of fighting a war for any reason, including a direct attack.

I hate to have to tell you this, Mort, but if it were not for the Left--including the "Mainstream Newsmedia" (its Propaganda Machine) and the Democrat Party (its Political Machine), terrorism would not be a problem. In fact, America's enemies abroad would not be a problem.

The Left, America's primary domestic enemy, is the enabler of America's foreign enemies.

It is a fifth column.
