05/17/2006 AMARILLO -- Daycare worker 22-year-old Amber Dawn Hawkins was arrested 2 a.m. Wednesday. She is accused of putting a child in a freezer at the First Christian Church Garden School day care. A warrant for Hawkins` arrest was issued earlier this week after she was accused of punishing a 3-year-old girl improperly.
The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services closed the daycare Tuesday afternoon. They tell us that from March 27 to April 7, eight children were put in the freezer as a punishment.
A church attorney says three caregivers were fired for the incident, including Hawkins.
Family and Protective Services says the freezer situation is just the latest for the daycare.
"From a safety standpoint, if you can`t say that that facility is safe, then you can`t in good conscience continue to let it operate in case something were to happen to another child out there," said Greg Cunningham with the Department of Family and Protective Services.
According to the department, some of the past violations include a child with a sprained wrist after being punished, children left in a van after a field trip, and a child falling off a diaper changing table.

Amber Dawn, what's that flower you have on?
I thank God everyday for my hubby that had me stay home with my girls who never went to Daycare.

That's cold.
Trying to get them to chill out.
