Saudi Men Who Rode School Bus Arrested (Tampa, FL)
Tampa Bay Online ^ | May 20, 2006 | Keith Morelli

Two Saudi men were arrested Friday after they boarded a school bus and rode to Wharton High School in New Tampa.

Students on the bus became alarmed, as did the bus driver, who called ahead. Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies met the bus at the school and detained the men. No one was injured and nothing out of line occurred on the bus, deputies said.

Mana Saleh Almanajam, 23, who lives in Apt. 302 in The Point apartments, and Shaker Mohsen Alsidran, 20 Monticello Gardens, Apt. 304-A, each were charged with trespassing on school property. Both remained in Orient Road Jail on Friday evening. Bail for each was set at $250.

"Both defendants gave several versions of the reason they took a school bus to a high school," said Hillsborough County sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway.

"They said they wanted to go to Wharton to look around, and then they said they wanted to go there to have some fun, and then they said they wanted to enroll in the English classes there," Callaway said.

"We're not sure if this was a situation of them just being new to this country, or if they were confused or what it was," Callaway said. "We were unsure as to exactly what the final reason was, but it did cause great concern for the students on the bus and for us. One of the guys was wearing shorts with a black trench coat."

While on the bus, the men laughed and spoke in Arabic, Callaway said.

I thought CAIR was a front for Hamas.

No. They are a front for Hamas, The Taliban, al-Qaeda, or any other anti-American Islamic group.

Might have been deliberate to show how easy it is for possible 'illegals up to no good' to have access to our children.

Crowded places are blown up in some countries...so far are we lucky?

Authorities searched the apartments of the two men and found nothing of concern

Back away... nothing to see. Six months in the country (and probably lied on their visas) and they don't know the difference between a school bus and public transportation. Oh, but then they did know the difference since they knew it was going to the school and they several stories of why they wanted to go there. Anyone bother checking to see if they had attended even one day of English Language school? Nothing to worry about, Atta & Co. were also "students".

"Ahmed Bedier, Tampa director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations"

Another lying al Queda sc*mb*g operative. Is that why they gave false testimony, lying about where they were from?

Casing out school security, looking for innocent children to hijack and murder.... until proven otherwise.

Doesn't everybody run around in the summer with shorts and a trench coat?

Just a shake down cruise for a real school bus hijacking?

It would have been funny to have seen the bus driver pull out a piece and smoke both of their asses and claim he was afraid for the safety of the children :)

"... said the men likely meant no harm and that because "they were from Saudi Arabia, that escalated the situation."

Good ... watch an adult man of any color try to board a school bus and see what happens.

They knew what they were doing, scaring the kids and the driver.

Agreed. Psy Ops, anyone?

$250 bail seems like a bargain to terrorize a community.

The steps on my daughter's bus in PA clearly say NO TRESSPASSING. There is a warning about criminal penalties for tresspassing. I can't imagine a bus driver allowing any adult male of any color on a school bus.

Why didnt the bus driver close the doors and drive away is the real question.

Better yet, catch one in the door and hit the pedal. Actually, what gets me the most is the driver called ahead, yet the LE didn't bother surrounding the bus with guns drawn before the next stop.

#!: "They were confused"... but got from SA to Tampa ok?

#2: USF is a hotbed of radical Islamic activities.

#3; Tampa is home of CENTCOM, and it's soldier's' sailors', airmen and marines' children go to school there.

Tourism Dry-Run

Muslims without any real ties to terrorist organizations see how far they can push the envelope. When caught, they have some valid excuse or can't really be charged with a prosecutable crime and they walk away.

Later they report back what happened and, in whatever way, it helps al-qaeda plan for attacks.

Since al-qaeda seems incapable of carrying out any big attacks anymore, why not hold a school bus full of little kids hostage before blowing it up. Why not take over a whole school (Beslan).

We need a new law to deal these tourism dry-runs because they are happening frequently.

These students and the bus driver needs to see the Flight 93 movie.

What is the bus driver doing letting adult Saudis board the bus?

Bus driver should be fired.

It could be that they were ready to return to Saudi Arabia and wanted free tickets.

Extremely unnerving. Fortunately, we have some people in this country who have not forgotten that we are at war.

Just a rehearsal. One day, at a couple of hundred locations, armed men will board school busses with disastrous results.

I thought CAIR was a front for Hamas.

It's getting to be like there are about a dozen or more groups like that fronting for each other.

If the FBI has become too politicized/politically correct to deal with this, we need to come up with a plan.

Dry run for something. Next time, get on bus, shoot driver, drive off with kids, stop for dynamite, head for target.
