Montenegro has voted for independence from its union with Serbia, according to unofficial projections. If confirmed, the vote would erase the last vestige of the former Yugoslavia.
Initial indications are that 56.3% of voters elected to secede from Serbia. The pro-independence bloc needs to win 55% of the vote to succeed.
The question of independence has deeply divided Montenegro, with its opponents arguing that it will damage economic, family and political ties with Serbia.
Yes, but what will be Montenegro's industry? I know, Cigarette - running from Italy and then resale to its neighbors.....not sure that will get them to Monaco or Bahrain's level of economic success any time soon...

Some local people down here, had a similar situation in Croatia. It seems the Croat govt wanted a HUGE percentage of the sale price because the land was owned by foreigners... that is an American family who inherited it from their Uncle.
You refer to people as extremists and scum. You should read the headlines and see how this is all comming together. Kosovo can not live along side Serbia anymore. To much hatred and blood shed/revenge. If you want to thank anyone about Kosovo being independant. Thank the Serbs who tried to wipe this ethnicity out. a small autonomy won the war.

don't cry about it. it is over. Kosovo will join the other former repbulics of yugoslavia to prosperity and independance. It is the eminant destiny. I hear Voyvodina is next. Does that belong to Serbia too? Well anyone could guess it Serbia alone in the wilderness. Have fun and peace to all people of the former Yugoslavia.

I definately think Serbia should exist. I hope they prosper and are economically strong. I do not begrudge them because after all, I still have a feeling for all the people of the Former Yugoslavia. I feel they were one people with the same mission. Yes multiple ethicities existed and they got along until after Tito's death. Then suddenly everything broke down. It is a shame and I wish to god this never happened. It did. Serbia will survive without the rest. Its borders are where they are. The autonoies like Voyvodina and Kosovo were always left behind others. That is not right. They are a people too. It does not matter if they are Romanians, Bulgarians, Albanians, and Hungarians. There territories were integrated not with there will. SO everyone should live together. Serbia through the last year tried to stop the republics from leaving the union militarilly. Was that right. I think not. Maybe different dialogue would have changed the situation maybe not. We4 will never know. We do know what happened in Bosnia, Croatia, and Kosovo. Some may have been fabricated but not all. That is why the youth of Serbia finally stood up against Milosevic and his kronies. Serbia and the other repbublics of Yugoslavia were a strong nation together. Today we morn there seperation. Let them get along as neighbors. They have similiar traditions, culture, and characteristics. They had a history togethher and should always remember what it took to fight the Germans, Fashists, and other empires who tried to conquer these people. Together they won and built a country called Yugoslavia who was great, powerful, prosperious, and had a hell of a future ahead. Well that is gone and it seems everyone one to be the king of their castles.

If any one should take a hike it's you. I don't need to speak to anyone I speak my mine and am not concern over people like you or others for that matter. There is no Islamist in Kosovo. Any area where the economy is unstable is an open field for crime and other things. I am sure other ethnicities commit things that are not right. There are good and bad in every facet. A few bad does not mean that all do the same. You mean to tell me that all Serbs are good. If you believe that then Milosevic was an angel. Do you disagree. And next time don't sound like your pissed off. This is an open forum. Adress people accordingly. Do not tell me hey albanian. Because everyone has equal squatter rights in that region. Why is the population in Kosovo 95 % Albanian. The Serb Kingdom didn't like this place. Or better yet they couldn't live with other minorities in the region. Take a hike and smell the coffee. I here that they are not happy. They feel oppressed and believe they do not have equal representation, their region is not developed like the beautiful capital of Serbia. I guess they think that being independant may serve their cause. You will not disagree that everytime a Autonomy or republic becomes independant it takes years and for some centuries before they are able to prosper. Econims and experience is a key factor.
you make it sound like your a visionary. All Albanians in that region are not criminals so get real and be realistic. Once they are independant the Serbs will not go there. The EU and international agencies not to mention other super powers will not let that happen. The times have changed. You think the former Soviet Union countries will ever be forced to become the Soviet union again. I think not.
If Kosovo is lost now it will be gone for ever.
The US better be very careful about supporting this or else we're going to be in a huge mess in about 30 years or less.
