CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - American director Oliver Stone and British producer John Daly plan to make a film about the 2002 coup that briefly brought down Venezuela's government, President Hugo Chavez said Sunday.
Chavez said Stone and Daly plan to announce the upcoming film at the Cannes Film Festival in France. He added that the two called Venezuela Sunday morning to discuss their plans.
"They've asked for our permission to announce it today in Cannes, and we've told them yes, that we're interested in that film being made," Chavez said during his weekly television and radio program.

Will they include a segment about Hugo's own attempt to overthrow the legitimate government of Venezuela a decade earlier?

The government chavez made his coup againts in 1992 was a an American Puppet( Carlos andres Perez) Also A thief and a murderer. He had 20 venezuelans Killed in the streets of caracas all shot in the head because they exposed his funneling of government money to Miami in order to buy the house inwhich he lives now. Some 120 mil dollars he stole. and other things I dont even know about needless to say chavez had good reasons.
Chavez was doing what any Patriotic Military leader would do if given a chance. The problem was He did not have The Airforce controlled at the time. otherwise He would have Succeded. I lived In venezuela during This time and let me tell you things are Much better Now, Public safety is still an issue but not for long . He is a good Economist for VENEZUELA his down side is his mouth!! but hey we all have our moments.
My cousin is a Federal Prosecutor in venezuela and hercoments are simple, We traded one form of corruption for Another, Just this time around the general public has benefited not just the elite. If you follow history Venezuela was better off with perez jimenez than with Calos adres perrez, and Perez was a dictator!! Chavez was elected, and then reelectec, and I positive he will be elected for another term. The popuplar vote wins down there and he is very popular!
Jalapenos are comon to Mexicans not Venezuelans. Litte Venice for those of you who dont speak Italian. Misconception that Venezuela is anothe 3rd world country.
pathetic. Bolivar( the Liberator) is his idol not a red star. Try Yellow Blue and Red with Eight stars.
Don't buy any gas at a Citgo station, Citgo, formerly American owned, is now wholly owned by the Venezuelan government, IOW by Chavez. Most of the convenience stores around here sell Citgo gas, but I don't even buy soda or coffee at them.
