Bush Not Likely to See Gore's Film
AP ^ | May 22, 2006

Posted on 05/22/2006 11:24:13 AM PDT by West Coast Conservative

Is President Bush likely to see Al Gore's documentary about global warming?

"Doubt it," Bush said coolly Monday.

Bush has had bitter disagreements with Gore about the environment and other issues. Bush defeated Gore, then the Democratic vice president, in a disputed presidential election that was finally settled by the Supreme Court in 2000.

Gore's documentary chronicles his efforts to bring greater attention to the dangers of climate change.

"New technologies will change how we live and how we drive our cars which all will have the beneficial effect of improving the environment," Bush said. "And in my judgment we need to set aside whether or not greenhouse gases have been caused by mankind or because of natural effects and focus on the technologies that will enable us to live better lives and at the same time protect the enviroment."

Gore's movie debuted at last winter's Sundance Film Festival and opens in U.S. theaters Wednesday.

Speaking Saturday in France at the Cannes Film Festival about global warming, Gore said, "I even believe there is a chance that within the next two years, even (President) Bush and (Vice President) Dick Cheney will be forced to change their position on this crisis," he said. "One can only attempt to create one's own reality for so long. Reality proper has a way of insisting itself upon you."

Common sense must have been hard for the AP reported to accept, and it's even harder for Al Gore to understand.

Global Warming caused by man is as fictional as the "manbearpig"

Calvin Coolidge liked to speak in 2 word clips also.

Both cool Presidents.

So far, Al Gore's done a good job of it.

Obviously, Al understands... he just doesn't get it.

in a disputed presidential election that was finally settled by the Supreme Court in 2000.

Yeah, that and the fact that Gore at no point in any of the official counts and recounts had more ballots than Bush. It was close, yes, but Bush was the clear winner.

I don't want any advice from Algore. At last year's Sierra Summit in San Francisco, he gave a stirring speech on global warming. He then went outside and was taken back to the airport by his chauffer ---- IN A FREAKING CADILLAC ESCALADE, THE MOST POWERFUL SUV ON THE PLANET.

From The Wall Street Journal, 11/1/2000:

"The zinc mining on [Gore's] land causes groundwater pollution...The plant that processes the zinc 100 miles away in Clarksville is a high-pollution Superfund site, and a previously unpublicized Environmental Protection Agency study cites it for dangerous contamination...Tax records show Mr. Gore gets about $227 in royalties per acre...

The lease [became] a political problem for Mr. Gore; the Republican National Committee [ran ads in 2000] accusing him of hypocrisy on his environmental record. "Gore has allowed mining companies to mine zinc from his property," the ad states. "They have been cited for polluting the source of local drinking water, all while Gore has made a half a million dollars in mining royalties."

But a 1995 study for the EPA makes a more serious claim about the plant in Clarksville, Tenn., where Mr. Gore's zinc is processed, and which is run by the same company that pays royalties to Mr. Gore, Pasminco Inc. The area around the plant is contaminated with toxic substances such as cadmium and mercury, posing "a threat to the human food chain," the report says. The plant has been designated a Superfund site."

"Its sad, but now the global warming lie as [sic] become fact."

You couldn't be more wrong, noob. The strength of the Red States is directly driven from our industrial-strength 24/7 BS detector. Not even the MSM can cock up a Global Swarming poll to their own satisfaction!

"But far fewer, 38 percent, call it an urgent problem that requires immediate government action...24 percent — call for prompt action, while seven in 10 instead say more study is needed first...Indeed, just 23 percent are "completely" convinced that global warming has begun." -- ABC News/Washington Post poll

"A modest majority — 54 percent — said the bad storm season is just one of those things "that happen from time to time," -- yet another Washington Post-ABC News poll

"A recent Gallup Poll that asked respondents to rank 10 environmental problems -- global warming ranked 2nd from the bottom, bested -- or worsted - only by acid rain." -- ShopFloor.org
