Judge: 5-Foot-1 Child Molester Is Too Short for Prison
AP ^ | May 25, 2006

SIDNEY, Neb. -- A judge said a 5-foot-1 man convicted of sexually assaulting a child was too small to survive in prison, and gave him 10 years of probation instead.

His crimes deserved a long sentence, District Judge Kristine Cecava said, but she worried that Richard W. Thompson, 50, would be especially imperiled by prison dangers.

"You are a sex offender, and you did it to a child," she said.

But, she said, "That doesn't make you a hunter. You do not fit in that category."

This silly broad is unfit to be a judge....she should be sent to prison herself for this absurd ruling.

"but she (THE JUDGE) worried that Richard W. Thompson, 50, would be especially imperiled by prison dangers."

But, don't bother worrying about the neighborhood children.....they should really test judges for logic...this makes me sick.

Unbelievable. The judge is just as much a menace to society as the child rapist she just pardoned. They both should be executed for their crimes.

I wonder how tall the child was and what kind of a chance of avoiding molestation and abuse he/she had!

Of course lib lawyers don't have the brains to think beyond then end of their nose!

And that catergory begins where, Katherine? 5'4 or '5'5"? Frightening idiocy.

Perfect segue from my original post. That is where Iggy Pop's song can be modified. The originally opening eords:

"I'm only five foot one
I got a pain in my NECK
I'm looking up in the city
What the hell what the heck"

I would have told him I have some good news and some bad news.

First the bad news: "Monster, I am sentencing you to prison."

Now the good news: "As soon as you get there, you will be a short timer."

I just wanna know what the hell this love affair our judges have for violent and child molesting criminals!

They care more about the damned offenders that ruin many other peoples' lives than they do about the victims and societal civility and safety!

If it were just limited to judges we would have a chance to fight them. This love affair with predators extends to the political level also. It is there that the rules for the application of justice are written. When they give judges too much leeway, we have atrocious decisions like this one.

I knew a guy who was only 4'10" and no one in their right mind would want to mess with him. Once he was in a bar and some big 6'5 280lb drunk redneck decided he wanted to use him for "dwarf tossing." He never got the opportunity: He picked up the drunk 2 feet off the ground from his knee's and sent him hurddling on his back. They say he broke his back.

Yeah, it's called "discretion" in legal terms and it's what judges love because it gives them more power. Judges don't typically have to be brilliant people. All they do, in theory, is look at behavior, reconcile that with existing laws, come to a determination of guilt if there's no jury, and then impose judgement.

It does require morality of a Judeo-Christian variety however, and that's what's sorely lacking in judgeships across our land, morality and integrity!

FYI I have seen many pedophiles tried and sentenced, and have seen psychological profiles introduced in court. It is very common for them to be short of stature. They are often child-like individuals, with deep feelings of inadaquacy. I'm not saying they are all short, but it seems they often are of small size, which contributes to their insecurity.

If you won't imprison short pedophiles, that will mean not imprisoning a lot of pedophiles.

Thompson will be electronically monitored the first four months of his probation, and he was told to never be alone with someone under age 18 or date or live with a woman whose children were under 18. Cecava also ordered Thompson to get rid of his pornography. He faces 30 days of jail each year of his probation unless he follows its conditions closely.

Boy, she really threw the book at him.

"I want control of you until I know you have integrated change into your life," the judge told Thompson. "I truly hope that my bet on you being OK out in society is not misplaced."

I give up.

Shoot, I can't think of a BETTER reason for putting his ass in prison. Child molester? He'll find out what it's like to get used as some Bubba's B*tch, just like he used that child. And if he's lucky, he won't have to put up with it for long anyway.

That judge is unreal.

How about all the children who will be imperiled now? I guess the judge doesn't care about them.

How does that country song go... "Size Matters..."

found on a blog:
OMAHA, Neb. – Height should have nothing to do with justice, Nebraska’s top law enforcement officer said on Thursday.

District Judge Kristine Cecava of Cheyenne County on Tuesday sentenced Richard Thompson, 50, on two counts of sexually assaulting a minor. He given 10 years of probation by a judge who said the man was too small to survive prison.

On Thursday, Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning said he’ll appeal the decision.

Jon Bruning has proven time and again where children stand with him - they are a top priority. He has made some tough, yet warranted decisions regarding kids (Matthew Koso is one that comes to mind, not to mention Internet safety) and stands firm in his conviction to make sure kids are safe.

This quote from Bruning says it all:

“I don’t care if he’s 3 feet tall,” Bruning said. “If you abuse a child, you’re going to pay a price.”

...ironically enough, this decision comes a month or so before the release of a Wayans Bros. movie, Little Man, in which a vertically challenged jewel robber (face of one of the Wayans was superimposed on a toddler's body) lifts a precious jewel. But he loses it and has to pose as a BABY to get it back... Maybe the lil' dude will be too short to serve time, too...
