Gay rights rally in Moscow ends violently
CBC news ^

Posted on 05/27/2006 3:27:41 PM PDT by kronos77

"We are conducting a peaceful action. We want to show that we have the same rights as other citizens," Alexeyev told a news conference a few hours before events turned violent.

The crowd opposed to gay rights and the rally included women who held up religious icons. They were joined by men in Cossack traditional dress — white sheepskin hats and black-and-red tunics.

Police quickly moved in as the first half-dozen rally participants arrived carrying flowers. They were joined by about 100 religious and nationalist extremists who kicked and punched some of the activists.

As Volker Beck, a Green member of Germany's national parliament, was giving a TV interview, about 20 nationalist youths surrounded him and punched him in his face, bloodying his nose.

There is something good coming out of Russia afterall. I can just hear the effeminate liberal leftist voices moaning and whining about this.

Maybe the Russians have seen how the Fags in the USA have pushed their lifestyle acceptance down to elementary school books. The Russians decided to be less tolerant of perverts. Good for them.

We will surely see the ACLU all over this. Or will it be the RCLU? After all several of the gay participants received blows. Maybe I should try to put that another way.

Back during one of the Reagan-Gorbachev summits ACT-UP sent a passel of poofters to Moscow to generate publicity with one of their trademark "kiss-ins".

It started OK, they pranced around in front of the cameras waving condoms and shrieking "Get Condoms, Not AIDS", but when they got to the "kiss-in" part, a bunch of Russian men boiled out of the nearby buildings and commenced to stomp the dog crap out of them.

CNN showed the altercation just once. I tried to get my VHS set up to catch it during the next rotation, but they didn't show it again. Too bad. It was a total hoot.

Anyone else see that?

about Cossaks

They are nowdays legaly organised parramilitary in Russia, with most of men being in Afghan war in Chechenia, and balkans fighting alomgside Serbs against muslims.
They live in separate areas in Russia, sometimes whole counties are Sossaks, they train regula millitary exercises and holding automatic AK-47s and PK MG`s
They live by strickt christian ortodoxy rules dna society is mixture of Christian-millitarism and ultra conservatism.

Millitia men from US, you would like to be in Cossaks :)))

Well said. It is amazing that in only a few decades we've been successfully cowed into saying nothing when 1-2% of our population want to wave their sexual perversions in our faces. We're too afraid, but the Russians aren't.

Why gays were stupid to confront Cossacks:

Cossack volounteers in Bosnia war:

http://english.pravda.ru/hotspots/conflicts/13-10-2003/3892-bosnia-0

The first Russian military unit of volunteers was formed in Herzegovina in September of 1992 - not far from the town of Visegrad. Valery Vlasenko was the unit's commander. The second unit was formed the same year in November - the unit was known as Tsarist Wolves with commander Alexander Mukharev, nicknamed the Ace. A company of Cossacks was fighting together with the second unit of Russian volunteers. The Cossack unit was commanded by Alexander Zagrebov, soldier of the Afghan war. Another group of Russian military men was operating in the settlement of Skelani, not far from Visegrad. The group was commanded by Lieutenant Alexander Alexandrov, who had been in the wars of Transdniestr and Karabakh (he was killed in May of 1993).

In the winter of 1993, the group of Russian soldiers commanded by the Ace took part in the most fierce and legendary battle of that time - the defense of Zaglavak hill. Muslims were attacking the hill with grenade launchers, Russians were suffering considerable losses, but so were the Muslims. In March of 1993, Tsarist Wolves did battle with the group of Muslims - the Russian group was commanded by major Eduard (the major was decorated with Red Star and For Courage medals). In May, the major was substituted with captain Mikhail Trofimov. He was killed as he attempted to take a prisoner for interrogation: there were two Muslim women in the house that he was entering - someone threw a grenade at his back.
Tsarist Wolves became known as the most efficient Russian military unit. The black and gold banner of the unit is kept at the Holy Trinity temple in Belgrade. There is also a memorial board in the city in honor of the Russian men who died in battles for Serbia.

Let's see they create a spectacle so people will be upset. Then when they provoke one, they are able to play the victim. Make no mistake about it, for Gays a big part of what they're about is shocking and disturbing their neighbors. For every Gay who lives a life that's respectable, there are ten who want to shock and offend for whatever joy that brings them. Part of this is what makes them perfect Liberals. Liberals are not happy unless they're disturbing the peace, and they're troubled with the fact that ordinary Americans manage to get by by living conventional lives.

I'm definitely no supporter of the homosexual agenda, but I don't think the protesters deserved this. There's a huge difference between not submitting to every perverse demand they make, and beating the crap out of them.

Not for the masses in Russian society anyway. Homosexual activists are simply seeking victim status wherever they can in the hope they can evoke by sympathetic moral relative argument special "rights" premised in the choice to engage in homosexual activity... IT will never happen...

There are ways to express one's disapproval without starting fistfights. In the late 80s in Pittsburgh there was some demonstration on a related topic [must be AIDS], and I happened to pass by it on a narrow sidewalk going to a bookstore. One of demonstrators tried to give me some of their literature. I refused to take it and told him that I was not interested - and that was both sufficient and civilized.

YUP -I would say that many eastern Europeans have a certain well developed distaste and perhaps kneejerk reaction to even the thought of being imposed upon to accept anything they do not want to recognize e.g. "homosexual rights"...

I doubt it. I was born and grew up in that same Moscow - and IMHO these criminal lumpens would not know "traditional values" if they hit them in the forehead. I saw their spitting image predecessors decades ago, and from this report they have not changed much.
