Thank you! I agree with your take on Campaign Finance Reform. That was a horrible bill, and still is.

If you put these three so-called leaders up there to scrutinize you can clearly see that their staff members are doing the writing of their statements. It is too bad for them that they just do not have the staff members read them also. They are not aging well like Strom Thurmond, they seem very confused and keep changing their minds like it is different staff people every day trying to keep up with the psychotic behavior of the Donkey Party. I believe the Democrat Party is becoming more schizophrenic every day, and there is nothing verbally vicious that is off the table for them. They think they are close to victory and that makes them more nutty because they think people will listen to their vicious rhetoric and not be turned off by it. They are delusional, and it is good that they keep thinking that way.

Oh, you're right; it was Hagel. Thanks for correcting my assumption; I should have gone back and looked at my own notes.

That's really outrageous. Didn't Dodd add that to the Senate bill?

What a great commercial that would make for his opponent in either the Senate or if he decides to run for the presidency. He is second only to Kerry in his elitism. We used to live in CT and Dobb is the biggest snob I've ever met.

We will find out how unhappy the voters are with the Senate's immigration plan. It is worth noting that the three of the four Dems up for reelection this year voted against the bill. The House bill was passed with a sizeable majority including many Dems.

Also.

IF 24% of farming is illegal, 76% is legal.
If 14% of construction is illegal, 86% is legal.

I thought these were jobs Americans would not do!

Threats Followed FBI Search of Congressman's Office
AP via Fox News ^ | Saturday, May 27, 2006 | Fox News

WASHINGTON — The constitutional showdown that followed the FBI's search of a congressman's office came down to this: The House threatened budgetary retaliation against the Justice Department. Justice officials raised the prospect of resigning.

That scenario, as described Saturday by a senior administration official, set the stage for President Bush's intervention into the fight over the FBI's search of the office of Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., an eight-term lawmaker being investigated on bribery allegations.

During contentious conversations between the Department of Justice and the House, top law enforcement officials indicated that they'd rather quit than return documents FBI agents, armed with a warrant, seized in an overnight search of Jefferson's office, the administration official said.

Until last Saturday night, no such warrant had ever been used to search a lawmaker's office in the 219-year history of the Congress. FBI agents carted away records in their pursuit of evidence that Jefferson accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in exchange for helping set up business deals in Africa.

After the raid, House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill, lodged a protest directly with Bush, demanding that the FBI return the materials. Bush struck a compromise Thursday, ordering that the documents be sealed for 45 days until

(Sessions) said: "republican senators are telling me it is OK, the house will rescue us"!

The negotiations that are going to occur in the conference committee remind me of old time Labor Union negotiations. The unions always demanded a 20% raise, and almost always settled for a 3-5% raise and some bennies. The House conferees know that they have the backs of the Majority of Americans. They will be strong.

What a great point, Morgan! I've never seen anyone make that point and hadn't thought of that. Very good.

Did Sensenbrenner add "Not this time?"

LOL. No, I had better clear that up right away. That was my addition.

On ABC's This Week, Jack Murtha raised the possibility that General Pete Pace ordered "the massacre at Haditha."

House republicans should censure Murtha on that alone.

4.7% Unemployment is in Economic Terms Full Employment. That means under 5% and you are starting to employ the marginal and unemployables.

Where are you going to get the new workers to replace the 8% of he workforce that is supposedly made up of Illegals?

that's why I keep saying folks need to pay attention to exactly what ALL is in that Senate Bill

That final 'manager' amendment( #4188), too, has allot that should be read. Specter and Durbin (?) (IIRC) sneaked it through at the last minute.

One of the major provisions of that amendment is that any action on the border -- troops, fences, BP -- requires the US government to consult with the Mexican government.

That amendment is over 100 pages (IIRC), so it needs scrutinizing. Specter managed to keep the text of the amendment from being printed until the Senate had ended its session.

Russert: Will you accept any legislation which puts illegals on path to citizenship. Sensenbrenner: No. Talk of amnesty is increasing crossing the border as we speak.

If the House stands firm, the GOP base is going to become very motivated. The reward may well be extra seats and a further shift to the right.

If Hagel thinks we're at full employment now, just wait and see what happens when an industry develops to track down, prosecute & drive illegals out of our country. We will have to increase legal immigration (of course, from countries of our choosing) just to handle the work-load.

One strange aspect of the William Jefferson story is that his legal troubles were known before Nancy Pelosi et al started their campaign slogan "Culture of Corruption". How tone deaf or insulated from the real world are the dems?

OMG. On Memorial Day weekend we have to hear this kind of crap. It's Vietnam lies redux ala John Kerry. It worked so well then, the leftists are trying it again. Our poor troops.
