"American Soldier" - Lyrics from Toby Keith's tribute, in honor of Memorial Day
Toby Keith

Posted on 05/28/2006 10:06:37 AM PDT by DaveLoneRanger

I'm just trying to be a father
Raise a daughter and a son
Be a lover to their mother
Everything to everyone
Up and at 'em, bright and early
I'm all business in my suit
Yeah, I'm dressed up for success
From my head down to my boots

I don't do it for the money
There's bills that I can't pay
I don't do it for the glory
I just do it anyway
Providing for our future's my responsibility
Yeah I'm real good under pressure
Being all that I can be

And I can't call in sick on Mondays
when the weekends been too strong
I just work straight through the holidays
And sometimes all night long.
You can bet that I stand ready when the wolf growls at the door
Hey, I'm solid, hey I'm steady, hey, I'm true down to the core
And I will always do my duty no matter what the price
I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice
Oh, and I don't want to die for you
but if dyin's asked of me
I'll bear that cross with honor
'cause freedom don't come free

I'm an American soldier, an American
beside my brothers and my sisters I will proudly take a stand
When Liberty's in jeopardy, I will always do what's right
I'm out here on the front line
Sleep in peace tonight
American soldier, I'm an American soldier

Yeah, an American soldier, an American
Beside my brothers and my sisters I will proudly take a stand
When Liberty's in jeopardy I will always do what's right
I'm out here on the front line
So Sleep in peace tonight
American soldier, I'm an American
An American, an American soldier

Please pray on this day, and every day, for our Patriot Armed Forces standing in harm's way around the world in defense of our liberty, and for the families awaiting their safe return.

Some people do good AND make a profit. Buzz off, troll, and let us remember and honor our military, living and dead, in peace.

To the troll:

Toby Keith frequently does free concerts for our military. Go back to pondering your genitals and listening to your new Ditzy Chick CD you maggot. Ringing the cash register one America-bashing at a time.

Posted a few days ago, this is the annual song I've been putting up for some time.

MIDI - IMPOSSIBLE DREAM

They died as America’s born

Spilled blood as they stormed foreign shores

They fought in a frigid Korea

These men who've been lost in our wars

They drowned in a far away sea

And baked on a hot desert sand

They fought in some forsaken jungles

They marched through a hell called Bataan

On this…Memorial Day… take time to be grateful…it’s time that we say
It’s proper and right that we honor them all
They had selflessly given their lives and had answered the call

So now, it is left in our charge…we know what’s right and wrong
And we must be prepared for a fight…we must always be strong

Say a prayer for the sacrifice made…for heroes in our history
They fought with their last ounce of courage…they knew freedom never is free

Toby Keith played a concert today in Mosul at FOB Marez for soldiers there - my son attended - and then stayed and posed for pictures with any and every soldier who wanted one. He also played a few concerts there the other day as well. He doesn't have to, he doesn't get payed to, and he doesn't bring the press along to publicize him doing it.
