An ex-Marine pulled out a pocket knife after five people, including a young girl, allegedly tried to rob him late Monday evening in Midtown. That girl died.

Another one of the alleged assailants is in critical condition.

Investigators are calling the case one of self-defense. They say no charges will be filed against the victim in the case.

Police statement: They were actually robbing people.

Duh. I am shocked to read that people with guns were actually robbing people...as opposed to what-pretend robbing them?

“These are the individuals we have been looking for, for the past two nights,” said Atlanta police Detective Danny Stephens. “They’ve were riding around in this area. They were actually robbing people. There’s actually been a lookout for these individuals, and tonight, we caught up with them.”

Don'try to take the credit, detective. You didn't "catch up to them", you were just the cleanup crew. The "jarhead" did your job for you...

There's no such thing as an ex-Marine

Incorrect. Murtha, Dellums, Garwood, Lonetree, Dennehy, Oswald, Glenn, Massey, et al, are ex-Marines.

In this case the use of the noun ex- is incorrect but there are, indeed, ex-Marines.

In Atlanta, it's five punks down and 35,000 to go! Ain't nothing like a kickass Marine! Semper Fi! Atlanta needs a few more good men like this guy, and fast. That city has turned into a cess pool of crime.

He says he kicked the guns out of their hands, and fought back with his very own pocket knife.

I wonder if it was a Hobbit Hole knife? That would be MOST cool!

Police say that two of the suspects were armed -- one with a handgun, the other with a shotgun.

Investigators say two of the suspects got stabbed. They all took off and drove themselves to Atlanta Medical Center. One suspect died, a second one is listed in critical condition. The remaining three suspects were taken into police custody.

You said that right!

From all the Marines I know personally....you're either active, reserve, attached to another branch, or just 'takin' a knee' from service.

Even after retiring from The Corps, those dudes and dudettes I mentioned, are still Marines with every fiber in there bodies. God Bless 'Em!!

Fix the headline! There's no such thing as an ex-Marine.

What about someone who disgraces themselves and the Marine Corps? Like Lee Harvey Oswald? Or John Murtha?

"Young girl"? How young? 22, 18? Funny the way they phrased that.

That's all I had -- didn't have an age when I wrote the piece; hopefully when I update the story at noon, I'll have better info.
