I only wish we were that lucky.
Unfortunately, Couric is pin-up girl for Big Media's uberfeminists. Gifford, like Star Jones on that noxious morning gabfest with Viera, Walters, et. al., tried to play both sides of the cultural street -- to wit, a hip, Manhattan sophisticate with evangelical roots.
That dance doesn't work. Gifford was hated for her roots, not in spite of them. Couric stays on her side, the left side of the aforementioned thoroughfare -- as do many of Gifford's detractors.
Couric won't become a trivia question for a long time. Her cheerleaders in Big Media will see to that.

Here are my thoughts on the subject.
To the idiot Katie Couric hero worshiper who wrote the letter to the editor in the morning's (May 31, 2006) Daily Oklahoman about how this sorry, lazy, miserable, good for nothing P.O.S. had "a history of competent journalism" and that Our President was incompetent, I have a few things to say.
This b**** has shown herself to be nothing but shill for the Democrats. To say that she has a "history of competent journalism" is stupid, idiotic and foolish and you, Mr. letter writer are nothing but a comlpete idiot.
Katie Couric is no friend to Oklahoma whatsoever.
