The number of deaths ascribed to aids outside of Africa (where the definition is different) has fallen to 800,000 in the last year.
The statistic I'd like to see is what portion of deaths outside Africa, ascribed to aids, have any immediate cause of final illness other than TB. Preferably with a whole time series.
I've no doubt that infection with the HIV virus is endemic in Africa. What I doubt is any substantially increased mortality, rather than redefinition of causes of death.
while infectious diseases don't "care" about morality or anything else, the above "portrayal" is absolutely true: those who have contracted HIV through rampant promiscuity, odd sexual practices, and IV drug abuse bought their tickets and are unworthy of much in the way of pity; those who contracted HIV in other manners ARE innocent victims - largely of the political correctness which prevented universal blood-testing and quarantine measures.
I have seen articles connecting the two recently although I'd be hard put to put my finger on one of them quickly. Nonetheless it's a very easy connection to make. AIDS originated as a disease of apes and monkeys. You watch those PBS things about the trade in "bush meat" up and down the Congo river and ask yourself how much of that stuff ever gets cooked properly, and you just don't need to be Albert Einstein to connect the dots.
So much for all cultures being equally valid. Here's a case where the culture itself might wipe out it's own members.

IIRC, it was more from bushmeat hunters getting bitten while hunting or otherwise getting monkey (or chimp?) blood into an open wound. I don't think it was from eating them per se.
You must read Randy Shilts' "And The Band Played On". My take after reading it, albeit years ago, was that the homosexual community bore a lot (not all) of blame, and spread it by not listening to the medicos. PC had nothing to do w/ it. The gays did not want to sacrifice their hard-won "rights" and act in an responsible manner by closing the bath houses.

A recent study has linked SIV in chimpanzees from the Kinshasa, Congo area as being the likely original animal source. Tribes in the area, hunting chimps for food, starting dying of AIDS as early as the 1930s. Only a few genetic changes were required to allow the SIV chimp virus to jump to humans and then become infectious between humans. The first verified case is a man from Kinshasa in 1959.

I kinda disagree. If one even suggested quarantines, identifying and testing of all partners, etc., one was labeled a homophobe. Testing was done, maybe still is, by numbers, not names. The gay community raised an incredible stink when any real measures were brought up. At about this time, I was diagnosed with TB. I had broken some ribs coughing, and gotten an xray at Milwaukee General. They gave me pain pills and sent me home. The next day they called, and asked me to stop by to dicuss my xrays. Upon entering the hospital, I was escorted by a guard to the TB ward, and did not get out until 7 months later. My TB was diagnosed as atypical, and I probably caught it gardening. Not contagious. Lilies, who knew? Point being, TB is curable, AIDS ain't!

The new medicines we have today keeps aids patients alive longer and also healthier. These patients can continue to spread the disease as none of the medicine cures aids.

Exactly. That's why proper behavior wasn't exercised, by the gay community. They had an "out" for precisely that reason.
As I understand it, some African men have a preference for "dry sex," in which the woman is not properly lubricated. Unfortunately this can lead to small tears in the delicate vaginal lining, which means the AIDS virus is more easily introduced into the bloodstream.

Perhaps this is one reason why the great religions of the world ALL condemn homosexuality.

Gay sex = disease and death. Government should not endorse gay sex by legalizing gay marriage. The law should only recognize marriage between a man and a woman. Congress should view gay sex for what it is - a threat to public health.

The transmission of aids is overwhelmingly by sexual contact.
It is relatively difficult to contract as a male during heterosexual relations.
Males, nonetheless are the primary communicators of the disease.
They contract it by anal intercourse with other males.
They then spread the disease to everyone with whom they have relations.
A lot of Africans get AIDS because of the way they have sex. The males want to "think" that they are having sex with a virgin. They will put things in the vagina of the women to increase friction to simulate the "feel" of a virgin. This causes bleeding and thus the transmission of the disease among heterosexuals.

One contracts aids by promiscuous behavior or contact, direct or indirect, with someone who has been promiscuous.
This disease is one more STD and one more wakeup call to men that When God instituted marriage and fidelity inside and outside marriage, He knew what He was talking about.

Actually, and it's well documented, the AIDS scourge initial breeding ground (in North America) was in the bath houses of lower Manhattan. It quickly spread to the San Fransisco area ... thus the reference to California. So my question ... why is there no condemnation of the gay life style in the liberal media? Could it be many of them are gay or just pansy liberals?
Without question it was (is) the gay community that foisted this worldwide AIDS pandemic that today is killing millions of people around the world. Once again where's the condemnation?
