The longest day of my short life occurred a week and a half ago. At some point while I slept in Pullman, the sun rose Thursday morning. That evening, I watched the gray sky fade from the top of the Space Needle in Seattle. On the road back to Pullman, the early morning rays lit up the sky again on the hill down into Washtucna. It was a long road trip.
What was the purpose of this borderline insane trip? Former President Jimmy Carter, of course.
Eighteen members of the WSU Young Democrats had an important meeting with the man who is, arguably, the last honorable president in recent memory and by recent, I mean since the 1960s. Carter was clean, moral and honest. He worked hard to restore the presidency to its former glory. Though he served just four years, he successfully turned the nation around. His Baptist faith was a main part of his administration, but he didnt use it to minimalize anyone else.
In this day and age of government corruption and executive powers running rampant, we need a new Carter.
After a highly corrupt Nixon administration when Nixon was nearly impeached and resigned instead Carter was voted into office. The people thought this Democrat might help clean up the shattered remnants of the nation after the corrupt Republicans destroyed our faith in the Presidency and executive branch.
Carter wasnt the best president in history, or even in his century. But he was damn good; cleaned up the Oval Office and all its decay, implemented amazing new policies and was a leader in environmental protection.
This Georgian was the son of a peanut farmer his daddy wasnt no president who worked his way up from the bottom, went to the Naval Academy in Annapolis, and was always faithful to his faith and upbringing.
So we have a Christian, naval academy graduate who served his nation in the military. And hes a Democrat.
President George W. Bush and the Republicans have managed to twist the nation to think that the only patriots and the only Christians are in the red states, and everyone else is an atheist terrorist sympathizer.
We need another Jimmy Carter. This nation needs another man of truly high morals not just God-talk, which Bush has mastered, but the real moral and ethical codes of a truly Christian man (though being Christian is hardly a requirement for President) willing to fix the last eight years.
This nation has been through the meat grinder. Weve gone to pre-emptive war, lost thousands in terrorist attacks early on and thousands more overseas. The environment has taken a beating from those individuals greedy to make a profit, civil rights have been sent back decades by the Patriot Act and Supreme Court nominations, and the surplus Bill Clinton left us six long years ago has ben replaced by a record deficit.
Shaking Jimmy Carters hand was a high point in my life. It ranks up there higher, perhaps, than my handshakes with Al Gore and Clinton. Carter was honorable, honest, and knew real, hard work.
The nation needs a leader. We need someone strong, independent and ready to clean up the corruption. We need another man (or woman) like Jimmy Carter resilient and capable of handling a mess, who didnt get into office through nepotism and oil fields, who can fix America.
When we find that candidate, sign me up to campaign. Ill sell my soul to get someone capable into the White House and heal this great nation.

I bet you would.
Where's the 'Bucket o' Barf' Alert?
Liberals live in an "artistic fantasy land". Let everyone else worry about real life.
Wow! So much BS. So little time!
Carter was clean, moral and honest.
That is why we can never have another Jimmy Carter ever again. He probably thought he was those things and just did the job as President horrible. No more gas lines!!!! I was ten and hated them!!!!!
Can you say "Misery Index"?
A nose job, new Doo.. lose 15 lbs.. = Cheerleader..
SUPER VOMIT ALERT!!!
I lived through thoose times. They were horrible.
I hope this young woman grows up to be sane, and learn the truth.
What the h*ll kind of award is this? "Head in the sand" award?
This ditz is on the right track to be a New York Times staffer.
That's funny. I thought we already had another Jimmy Carter as president.
The imbecility is record setting.
thoose = those
the article made me sick
OBVIOUSLY too young to remember the REAL Jimmy Carter...
Who's next on THAT list...Howard Dean?
Fidel?
Carter is very popular with people who weren't alive when he was President.
Clearly she's too young to remember his Presidency. It really speaks poorly of what they're teaching in high school history classes.
susie
I guess SOMEONE has to like him . . .
I guess she was president of the Future Barking Moon-bats of America club in her highschool.
She even looks like a nitwit.
Another big factless, absent of reality, rant from the spawn of the delusional left...
Amelia, slovenly and stupid is no way to go through life.
If this were anyone else, presidio, I'd say IBTZ. :)
What a kook this woman is. She obviously doesn't remember Carter, does she????
No kidding. I was barfing from orifices I didn't even know I had.
Looks like she needs to lose closer to 150 lbs
Sounds like the opening line of a very lugubrious C&W ballad!
"We need another Jimmy Carter for President,
Like we need another orifice in our head,
We need another Jimmy Carter for President,
Lord help us all, we're gonna all be Jimmy dead!"
Yee-haw.
I long for Jimmah... 13% inflation, 20% interest rates, hour long waits at the gas staion, humiliation by Iranian Islamonuts, the misery index... I still don't how he lost to the Gipper... musta been a stolen election! Yea, that's it... the Gipper cheated in Ohio (mebe Florida)... 'cause with Jimmah's record how else could he have lost????
Excellent point! ROFL
susie
Not funny and we certainly do not.
I won't even bother with 23% interest rates, Cubans in Angola, Soviets in Afghanistan, gasoline lines & shortages, etc., etc.-- just remember this:

So, she got to shake Jimmy's hand, and he only had lust in his heart. Now, if she'd met Clinton, . . .
Damn but I hope this kid is using a lot of drugs to get this stupid and messed up. Please Lord don't let it be a natural occurrence.
Poor fool. To be young and ignorant is truly blissful.
Poor fool. To be young and ignorant is truly blissful.
Gag me. What is wrong with these idiots??
He gave away the Panama Canal and failed to defend this nation when it was invaded, Act of War perpetrated upon our soil. Another Carter? Thank you, hon, I'll pass if you don't mind.
"Carter wasnt the best president in history, or even in his century."
Quite a statement.
What did she win? Liberal Toady Award or something for this garbage?
Hey presido, where's the BRAF alert?
I spelled BRAF wrong.
Yeah...what "amazing new policy" that of surrendor?
Yep...Carter did such a "good" job, he got a second term...oh...wait...
"Fidel & Hugo are close fiends Jimma would naturaly seek advise from."
"And those rabbit pictures are fake but accurate!"
-Amelia-
That is literally saying that you "need another a--hole".
Carter presided over 18% interest rates and gave away the Panama Canal. He was arguably one of the worst presidents this country has ever witnessed.
You're a Democrat. Howard Dean already holds all property rights to your immortal soul. ;)
Let me see..double digit interest rates, double digit inflation, getting our embassy taken over by the Iranians, protesting the USSR's invasion of Afghanistan by keeping our atheletes out of the Olympics,etc.etc. Yep, those were the good ol' days alright.
Is this real or that is absolute sarcasm? No person with an IQ over 10 can possibly write an article like this if it is not sarcastic.
We need another Jimmy Carter for president
like we need a hole in the head.
like we need a plague of locusts.
Dude. 2004 high school student is all you need to know. This person wasnt even ALIVE when Carter was president. Writing this article would be like me writting about what a great man Calvin Coolidge was and how we need another sharp cookie like him back at the helm.
