Prayers for successful surgery and recovery for Catherine and her baby son.
I saw it. It was enough to make John Wayne cry.
Yes, this is everything everyone here says it is--courageous, beautiful, selfless, maternal--and more....
But it's not really anything 99% of all Freepers wouldn't do in a nanosecond, for kin. And I can't believe I'm the only one pointing this out: The small portion of her liver she is giving up will regenerate.
Not to minimize her risk and courage, but like I said: Who of us would not do it to save our child?
What always amazes me is people who give up a KIDNEY for an absolute stranger.
I saw pictures of the baby and Catherine's family on Greta's program last night, and he is a beautiful baby. I'm praying for a successful operation and recovery for both of them. When Catherine spoke to the baby, his eyes would follow her, and he would get the biggest smile on his face. Not only is she a good reporter; she is, without a doubt, a most loving mother! God bless them and restore them both to good health.
This is a shame. Hope the baby is ok. Mom seems to really care about her baby to give up part of the liver. Not too many would now a days. Good for her. Prayers to her, the baby, and the family. Finally a mother who is not selfish...God is most proud of her.
Doocy said this morning to just e-mail the show and they would print them and make sure she got them....
Prayers to the Fox family...
Thy will be done.
Prayers for her and her family. There is a parishioner at our church who did the exact same thing for his son just a couple of weeks ago in Pittsburgh. Father and baby son are both doing well last time I heard anything.
She has long been one of my favorites on Fox, and I am sorry I didn't know about this situation before today. Thanks for posting the story and Greta's blog, which was kindly written.
When self-less love is present, the parents desire sacrifice for their little ones.
When selfish love is present, the little ones are sacrificed for their parents' desires.
Thanks for posting this. I've always enjoyed Catherine's reports, and it breaks my heart to hear about her son Peter's illness. When you see people like Catherine on TV, one never knows the personal crises they are going through. I pray that she and Peter get through their respective surgeries without complication, and that Peter's condition is corrected with the help of his mother. Dear Lord, please let this young family thrive and grow together.
May God heal both mother and son.
One of my favorites.
I wish her, her child and family well.
Isn't he though? Like a lot of men, I usually don't gush over babies, but he was really responsive and expressive. And like you said, smiled an awful lot.
So well put!

God save Catherine, her baby, husband and family.
E.D. said if you e-mailed F&F with prayers, best wishes, etc., they would get copies to Catherine.
4:51 p.m. UPDATE
Jeff Miller just called from the Pittsburgh Hospital and said doctors came out and said, "It was all a success... little Peter is now finished... and will be moved to the ICU if not there already... Catherine is doing extremely well and she is in the other hospital ICU... doctors said it went very well."
Needless to say, we are all thrilled!
Jeff also said the doctors said that Catherine and Peter will spend the next 4-5 days in the ICU. Ultrasounds will be performed in next 3-5 days. After 7th day, worry about rejections. Second month worry about infections. The next 2-3 days are crucial, but everything went fine
