I find this story interesting. Love digging up history - so to speak.
My GGGG Grandfather was a wagon master with General Braddock during the French Indian war and was at Braddocks defeat in 1755, escaping only with his horses. He later fought in the Revolution fighting the bloody loyalist at Kings Mountain.

It was on the island, in 1757, where Rogers wrote his "Rules of Ranging," a manual on guerrilla warfare that became a blueprint for modern Army Ranger fighting tactics. His original 28 rules have been boiled down over the years into the 19 "Standing Orders" taught to today's Army commandos.
This is fascinating. Are you familiar with the "Rules of Ranging"?
