MI6 helped nail Zarqawi
The Sun ^ | June 9, 2006 | GEORGE PASCOE-WATSON

Posted on 06/09/2006 9:50:04 AM PDT by MadIvan

BRITISH spies played a pivotal role in helping to nail al Zarqawi, The Sun can reveal.

MI6 officers helped identify the whereabouts of the al- Qaeda general and his henchmen before the US air strike. And the SAS were involved in a series of “smash and grab” raids to seize his aides nearby.

Senior sources confirmed last night that MI6 had worked for weeks with US and Jordanian counterparts.

They helped pinpoint al Zarqawi and his team in their safe houses — leading directly to the bombing mission. A source said: “The intelligence services and special forces have been working with American colleagues.

“British intelligence played a role in helping to locate al Zarqawi. And special forces were involved in raids rounding up his men soon after.”

SAS-Badasses. I believe the SAS was first on the ground in Afghanistan, too. America is glad these folks are on our side. The Hereford denizens are a crucial component to the WOT.

I went back and still can't find any mention in The Times's and The Independent's on-line editions. Go figure.

God bless the British people and help them to wake up and prevent Londonistan.

Thank you for posting this from The Sun. It brought a smile to my face when I remembered one of Benny Hill's many endearing jokes (What's the hottest part of the sun?...Page 6! (for those who don't know, that's where The Sun publishes a photo of some topless babe))

I don't know how you stomach the BBC these days. Well, at least you still have "Eastenders"! ;)

When I read the news of Zarqawi and just assumed our long-standing Allies were probably involved at some level..

The Indie is no surprise. The Indie's readers think that Neville Chamberlain's problem was that he didn't give Hitler some warm milk and psychotherapy along with the Munich Agreement.

The Times, I'm mildly surprised by them not carrying anything about it - I suspect however, it will be mentioned at some point on their pages in the coming days.

When you take all the stories the last couple of days and put them together, it appears that all the intelligence services available were working together. Mossad had to be in on some of it also even though they are not mentioned, but at the same time as Zark was getting tucked in for his dirt nap, Mossad hit and took out the key palestinian henchman, and Jordan yanked the cork on Zarks brother and his sidekick. There was a widespread operation which took out a lot of key figures all over the sandbox.

It's actually on page 3. The Sun has a whole separate site focused on that section.

I have a business friend who was in the SAS.

He and his mates showed up in an African village, where there was some unrest going on, with decapitated heads of some rebels tied around their waists.

Things took a turn for the better real quick after the natives got the 'subtle' message.

The SAS is nothing to mess with, and to look at my friend you'd never guess he was one of them.
