Bush's Approval Up On Zarqawi's Death, But It May Not Last
Investor's Business Daily ^ | June 10, 2006 | JED GRAHAM

For one day at least, President Bush was more popular than he's been all year.

The president's lagging poll numbers got a swift boost from Thursday's news that U.S. warplanes had killed Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the most wanted-terrorist in Iraq.

Polling done on Thursday for the IBD/TIPP Presidential Leadership Index gave Bush a 44.2 rating, up from 39.1 in the prior days of June and 38.9 in May. The last time the Index reached this level was in December, when it hit 44.3.

Readings below 50 are negative. The complete June index will be released on Tuesday.

Raghavan Mayur, president of TIPP, a unit of TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence, said the sudden rise in sentiment on a range of issues, including America's standing in the world, suggests Bush's bounce is "totally attributable" to Zarqawi.

. . .but it may not last.

(1) the obligatory qualifying clause for every piece of conservative-linked, conservative-engendered good news the MSM grudgingly has to report

(2) the forewarning clause that signals the MSM's intention to inundate us with a torrent of bad news, actual or apocryphal, to drive this good news off the front pages

"But It May Not Last"

Poor ole liberals. I just can't feel their pain. For 5 or 6 years now they have done nothing but whine, lie and groan.
The only thing that will cure them is to put them in control.

Now, who in their right mind wants to do that.
Poor ole liberals!

I am expecting the news weeklies to suddenly have cover stories like "Katrina--Just About Ten Months Or So Later, And It's Just Getting Worse" and "The US Economy Is In A Depression--You Just Don't Know It Yet"

No need to worry, if even ONE poll out of a thousand shows Bush in the 30's, it will become the new most trusted and important poll to the Bush haters.

Zarqawi's Death may not last? What a scoop!

The MSM uses the word but so much with regards to Bush that Laura Ingraham calls them the butt monkeys.

Yes, suddenly the Bob MacDonald of Boondocks, Massachusetts poll of the five guys at the local bar will be THE poll all the DC insiders trust. (And they'll insist they ALWAYS trusted it.)

The Rice memo and the National Guard have got to be recycled at least one more time before the administration is done.
