Join the campaign to shut up John Murtha
John Murtha from Pennsylvania's 12 district has been in the U.S. Congress for 32 years. Too many years in Washington, too many years attracted to the power, and now too many years out of touch.
A decorated Marine whose service we must honor, but who has now gone far beyond the bounds of even a patriot in disagreement with his nation's policy and war effort.
"Semper Fi" is a pledge of loyalty to his Marine brothers and sisters. A pledge Murtha has now dishonored and in doing so has dishonored his country, his fellow Marines, and others in the American armed services.
For a year and a half, John Murtha has had prominent media coverage to disparage American efforts and our brave men and women service members. His words have been used by our adversaries, thus he has provided aid, and recruitment propaganda to our enemy and put our sons and daughters in further danger.
The ultimate way to shut Murtha up is to vote him out of office. His opponent in the election is Diana Irey, who does support our troops and veterans.
Irey has many other issues opposed to Murtha as well, but the message here is to stop Murtha from going on international television calling our troops and government cold blooded killers. Irey is a capable, well-spoken opponent who only lacks media attention and funds to equal the playing field. I hear talk radio discuss Murtha all day long with never a mention of Irey.
To combat the advantages of incumbency and his financial advantages we must start a "Shut John Murtha up" campaign. This campaign is not to deny Murtha his right to free speech. Our pledge will be to donate as much as we can individually afford across the nation to Irey every time we hear Murtha bad mouth our soldiers and give aid to our enemy.
Simply put, every time Murtha makes news with a message we disagree with we send Irey money. Our money is our freedom of speech! To get this started we must not only send our money but promote this nation wide because already the media is giving free air time to Murtha.
Call the talk shows, write the blogs, send letters to the editor to both local and national papers, e-mail all your friends.
If you have any empathy for the brave men and women who give their all in the armed service, and love our country, do it!

Everyone even considering not voting, just think about the damage this traitor can do to the troops with his constant ranting against them. Think about what would happen in Iraq if the dems cut off funding for the mission.
It had better fire up the conservative and Republican base(s) or America will have let down all of those noble men and women who serve in uniform. God help us if we allow that to happen.

Murtha is an angry man, and one of the factors related to his anger is his son although he used his influence to get him off:
John Murtha (35), son of Representative John Murtha (D-PA), received a sentence of 11 to 23 months in jail after pleading guilty to selling a gram of cocaine to an informant. Murtha has been busted for two burglaries in 1980 and for armed robbery in 1985. Murtha was on parole at the time of his arrest and could have faced more than ten years in prison if he'd been prosecuted under federal guidelines. The judge hearing Murtha's case allowed him to temporarily withdraw a plea bargain and resubmit it at later date so he could enter the jail's school-release program and continue his education.

The son of U.S. Rep. John P. Murtha was sentenced yesterday to 11 1/2 to 23 months in jail after pleading guilty to three drug charges.
One of 22 people arrested in a 1991 drug sweep in the Greensburg area, John Mark Murtha, 35, told Westmoreland County Judge Daniel J. Ackerman yesterday that he was a drug addict and ''it's been embarassing for me and my family.''
Murtha said he was drunk when he sold 1 gram of cocaine to undercover county Detective Terrance Kuhns for $ 100 in a Greensburg bar in July 1991. He pleaded guilty to charges of cocaine possession, possession with intent to deliver and delivery.
In accepting the guilty plea, Ackerman noted that Murtha had been incarcerated for four of the past eight years. He was convicted in two burglaries in Cambria County in 1980 and in a robbery there in 1985.
Ackerman said, however, that the amount of cocaine involved in the case was relatively small.
He said Murtha had ''emotional problems'' and had exhibited ''rebellious behavior'' because of alcohol and drug abuse. Ackerman said Murtha began abusing drugs when he was 17 years old and, at 20, he began using cocaine.
The judge pointed out that after Murtha's arrest, he had asked the court to revoke his $ 20,000 bond so he could enter the jail's school-release program and continue his education. Ackerman said Murtha would have a better chance at rehabilitation with a college degree.
Defense attorney Terri Faye said Murtha at times ''received harsher sentences because people were afraid to make it look like he got a break because he's congressman John Murtha's son.''
His father, the Democratic representative from Johnstown, would not comment on the sentence. When his son was arrested, Murtha said his son had struggled for 15 years ''with a lot of personal problems.''

The son of a powerful Congressman was arrested Thursday on charges of possessing crack and selling the drug to an undercover police officer, the authorities said today.
The suspect is John M. Murtha, 33-year-old son of Representative John P. Murtha, the Pennsylvania Democrat who heads the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense.
The younger Mr. Murtha was arrested with eight other people in this western Pennsylvania town, which is part of his father's district, and is being held on $20,000 bond.
The drug sweep in which he was seized resulted from a six-month investigation into crack dealing in the Greensburg area, said the town's Police Chief, Ray Attenberger.
Mr. Murtha was convicted on burglary charges in 1978 and 1979 in the Johnstown area. In a statement issued after his latest arrest, his father said that "he's struggled with a lot of personal problems for 15 years" and that the Congressman and his wife, Joyce, "feel terrible about it."

I will never understand why people always add this caveat. I suppose they feel compelled to so people won't think they're "mean." But Murtha has done far, far more damage in his life than good. In just the past year alone he's done enough damage to the military and to the country to wipe out any honor he deserved 40 years ago.
Yeah, I want him defeated as well, however, his "sqwuaking" is putting our Troops in worse peril.
