"maureen dowd spoke of someone who had unassailable 'moral credibility' wrt a Bush issue, and I forget who it was, but your comment struck a chord. Was it Valerie Plame she said it for?"

"Even better, it was Mother Sheehan."

THAT'S RIGHT!!!

Fodder for the 'memory vault'... so 'she of the invincible moral credibility' because she was a 'victim' (somehow it was her hero son who did all the suffering and dying, but she gets the 'victim' crown), now is out there hobnobbing with Hugo Chavez, says that killing Zarqawi wont do any good, and otherwise being nothing more than an anti-american tool for those who want to drag the US down.

Yes, Mother Sheehan is indeed one of those
Icons in the Church of Liberalism.

Light a votive candle for her.

I can see it now, "Coyotes" with back pack loads of Ann's book crossing over into New Jersey from Maryland in the dark of the night.

That's funny. I'll be buying my first Colter book - I wonder how many others will be buying their first also.

ALSO anxious to get in on the Colter book boycott, Tim Roemer, who was a member of the 9/11 Commission, called Coulter's statements "reprehensible and undignified" and urged Americans not to buy her book.
And did I mention he is a FORMER demo congressman....from Indiana, I think. Anyway, Kristen Breitweiser, one of the Jersey Cows who publicly blamed Dr. Rice for 9/11, gave him her husband's wedding ring to remind him of her loss during the 9/11 Commission hearings. How many others are going to jump on this bandwagon?

People in the public spotlight can say what they want without repercussion

Do you have a learning disability, or are you normally this intellectually dishonest.

Nobody is saying beans about people in the public spotlight. We are talking about government officials asking for punitive action against someone who has broken no law, and they are asking it of people who are directly affected by the decisions those government officials make in the performance of their duties.

What about both? :)

It was Jeff Head who made the comment you quoted. I just added the human shields part. I see where you were provided the answer to your question farther down the thread.

The MO of Liberals, is to rally around victims or veterans of Viet Nam, etc., who are speaking out against Bush, and endow them with Sainthood status. Thereby trying to neuter any and all opposition. Human shields is correct.

I like to give people a choice so they have a chance to save face when they've written something monumentally stupid.

Less hurt feelings that way ;o)

There's nothing contradictory between Gnosticism and Buddhism. I guess you think I should take your prophet's words on faith. I won 't.

American Conservatism has nothing to do with what religion you are, and if Jim thinks so, he is free to kick me out. But I don't think Jim is a bigot, so I'll hang around.

BTW, Hitler was a socialist. If you think Hitler was somehow conservative, you have no idea what conservatism is, and you're the last person who should be the gatekeeper for conservatism.

Oh, since you brought up Hitler first, you lose.

This conversation is over.

They had the right to remain silent, but did not have the ability.

LOL! That, without a doubt is one of my favorite lines of all time!

Guess somebody hasn't read the Constitution lately.

From the article: We are asking New Jersey retailers statewide to stand with us and express their outrage by refusing to carry or sell copies of Coulter's book.

They are not creating a law to ban Coulter's book. They are asking for a boycott.

I know Barnes & Noble's Leonard Riggio is a big Dem donor. It'll be interesting to see what that particular big box does, officially or otherwise. I remember checking with some bookstores after the Swift vets book came out. Some bookstores were just not putting it out, putting in the wrong section, or some employees just plead dumb about having it.

Had the same experience.
Barnes & Noble workers are notoriously rabid loony left (at least in New York anyways).

The smartest thing the Jersey Girls could've done was keep their yaps shut. That being the case, I'm not surprised they haven't.

A politician has a Constitutional right to to be a vocal advocate of a nonlegislative boycott.
U-bet.

And similarly, Freepers have the Constitutional right to respond to such utterances with calls for the the politician's censure and/or removal from office.
