Please report more when you get back. Maybe you could ping those who replied on this thread.
From the agenda, all I could tell was that it had been voted down originally, but appeared to come up for a vote again. I didn't see results for the second motion.

I don't understand the problem here.
Has the City of San Bernardino decided to not display flags from flagpoles of civic buildings, or ...?
They won't allow a "special" display of U.S. flags ...?
Or, citizens cannot fly the flag in front of their own homes?
Isn't it up to us, the citizens, to display the American flag on Flag Day?
I've read this thread carefully and I'm not sure what the problem is in San Bernardino.

Moreno Valley is just south of San Bernadino. They already have flags up at major intersection. On national holidays many more flags are put along major steets. These are the flags they won't put up.
There is a Mexico consulate Office across the street.

And thank you, Lead Moderator. More details as I get them.

Ping--Clarification re: San Bernardino Flag Display
At issue is not the small U.S. flag normally flown but the big one that has previously been at City Hall.
Four City Council Members have refused to permit the large flag to be flown on patriotic National Holidays, for fear of 'offending' someone.
We want that large American Flag again flown PROUDLY, on America's National Holidays!
In the Right Column for May 15 is a link to a PDF file. Item 43 records the motion as having failed.
Here is the exact text from that PDF:
43.
Display of U.S. Flag on Memorial Day, Flag Day and Fourth of July. (See Attached)
Failed
MOTION: That the Facilities Department be directed to display the 22x30 U.S. Flag on Memorial Day, Flag Day and on Fourth of July.

There is a Mexican consulate office across the street from city hall of San Bernadino. Better grammar.

Thanks for the ping & update.
I guess no one's supposed to be TOO proud of their country. Is that it?

That helps. Now I get the picture. Having lived in Los Angeles so many years, I am used to there being no special display of extra flags at any time.
I recall that, a couple of years ago, Thousand Oaks -- a mostly conservative suburb north of Los Angeles -- was getting complaints about special displays of flags along the streets and their city council caved in.
It's a weird, disheartening trend. So, Moreno Valley has decided that flags at intersections are okay but not along the streets?

The flags along the street are curb level and are only on the holiday it self. Flag day July 4th....
I was wrong about San Bernadino it is just the one Big one they have put up at city hall. Not the rest of the city.

Seems city coucilman Chas. Kelley is the one proposing flying the "big" flag on certain holidays. Based on
THIS item, it looks like his original proposal was at the May 1 meeting. At least we know who one of the good guys are.
His more recent RE-proposal is ITEM #43, where it is stated the May 1 proposal was "not approved", whatever that means. A non vote???

Kelley is definitely one of the good guys. I've heard from two sources that he was accused of 'GRANDSTANDING' for his efforts!
With a little more grandstanding like THAT, we might just properly honor our Grand Old Flag and show our Allegiance.
