I don't know if he's ever explained the Pukin' Dog thing or not. A well known Navy fighter squadron had or has as their logo a rampant dragon breathing fire. The graphic looks fine on paper or painted large on a plane, but when it's shrunk down and loses detail on embroidered shoulder patches it looks like a pukin' dog. When that was first noticed, you couldn't have paid those guys for a redesign or a new logo. "We're The Pukin' Dogs! Ooorrahh!", etc.
