The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops policy paper on its support of illegal immigration
U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops ^ | Walter Ewing

Posted on 06/14/2006 4:52:10 PM PDT by garbageseeker

I am posting this article because very few people know that the Catholic Church is going out of their way to make sure CIRA is the law of the land. The church has supported illegal immigration for many years and they have been active in getting CIRA passed. I also publishing this article in the hopes that the many Catholics who support the House of Representatives would know what their church is doing on the illegal immigration issue in the United States. I really do not think that Roman Catholics know the churches position on this matter.I know that there are many Catholics out there who support the "borders enforcement only" approach, not the approach the pro-illegal immigrant. approach our leaders has taken.

If you still go to confession, ask your confessor if your membership in the Masons is materially sinful.

Oh, and I suspect your parish won't miss the measly dollar you put in the collection basket.

You and I are usually on the same side, so I will let you have the last word, except to say that there is no restriction here against posting articles about the Masons.

No, there isn't, but I am here to let you know, usually being on the same side or not, once you decide to smear the Mason or Shriners, you have ME to deal with and THAT is something you do NOT want; believe me!

I am not a Catholic; I am a Protestant. There was time, not all that long ago ( the 1950s ), when Catholics called Protestant heretics and worse, claiming that NO Protestant would ever get into heaven. Making the same claim, now, for Masons, is just as ridiculous to most people. And the ONLY reason you went after Masons/Freemasonry on this thread, as far as I can tell, is because you are losing the argument to a fellow posters, who happens to have on his personal page, that he is a Mason. That is NOT the way to win any debate; nor how to make friends ( or keep friends !) and influence others.

I went after a Catholic who is trashing the American bishops' position on immigration. Except that this Catholic is violating a long-standing proscription against membership in the Masons while he does this.

Nobody's putting anybody in hell. The Shriners do a lot of good work, but the tenets of the Masonic Lodge are at variance with Catholic teaching.

"You could have posted a link. I think most Catholics ARE aware of the Church's stand on this issue. They are making a strong effort to put it in our faces. I wrote to my bishop disagreeing, respectfully. It is not Catholic Doctrine or Dogma. Catholics are not BOUND to agree with this issue."

Exactly. I don't think the majority of nonCatholics realize that a bishop's opinion is not DOGMA.

You USED the Mason to try to trash another poster, for NO reasons having to do with this thread nor the topic at hand. And, by doing so, YOU impugned ALL Masons; living and dead; thereby earning not only my wrath and scorn, but that of many others.

You want to debate/argue this topic ? Be my guest; I couldn't care bless if I tried to. But for goodness sakes, stop with the damned personal attacks and especially an attack on an entire group of people who 1)were not on this thread 2) aren't Catholics 3) if it weren't for, this nation would either never have come into existence and/or most certainly would NOYT be anything at all like it is.

FYI.....though all Masons are NOT Shriners, ALL Shriners are very high degree Masons.

Yes, one of the tenets ( IT'S CALLED AN IDEAL, IN FREEMASONRY; IT IS NOT A RELIGION! )of Masonry is TOLERANCE ( i.e. regarding men of different religions ), something which the Catholic Church has been completely lacking in, for millennia.

"I stopped going to a Catholic Church."

That's a shame. Bishops' opinions have nothing to do with the Faith, and different bishops have different opinions, anyway.

Geez. Who has the time to write mental gymnastics like that? It's exhausting trying to wade through that mess -- as if the more words they can think up, the more valid their erroneous logic....

They are on the "right side" of the issue. They believe in reinforcement of the borders, but in fair treatment for those who are in this country, and legalization if possible.

By that reasoning, if you catch a burglar breaking into to your house, you should adopt him as a family member.

Some family that would be. And, some country this will be if this insanity persists.

If you'll go back to 1985, they were advocating the same thing when the Reagan administration undertook immigration reform. There wasn't a peep out of anybody back then.

Scuse me... But, we weren't talking about 11,000,000 of them back then.

And, now in retrospect we can see that was a mistake since it fostered the present situation we have now.

What will you say five years from now when there are another 11,000,000 of them who come here illegally because they see what happened now? Let them stay too?

Hey! What about all the poor people over in Thailand? Why shouldn't they be able to come here? What about all those Christian refuges in Sudan? Why are we keeping them out?

Let's just dissolve the whole country into this big international theme park.

Press one for Spanish... Press two for Thai... Press three for Swahili... Press four for English... Press five for Chinese...

You got it backwards. Whose words are these?

"...you have ME to deal with and THAT is something you do NOT want; believe me!"

Those sound like the words of bully. I for one am letting you know that those kinds of threats are unwelcome here.
