Saturday is the 150th anniversary of the first Republican National Convention, which opened on June 17, 1856.
Why is it that Republicans are so easily outmaneuvered by Democrats? Why do Republicans so readily fight among themselves? Why is it so difficult to advance the Republican policy agenda?
Here's why. Democrats control most of the media, but they also write most of the history books, thereby controlling what even Republican activists think they know about their Party's glorious heritage.

the Republican Party is the defender of the United States Constitution.
And now it seems neither party has a clue what the Constitution says.
As the phrase goes:

I see the value of knowing the history of 150 years ago. I also understand the relevance of what the PARTY does today.
Immigration is an issue that the PARTY is staying way clear of, because the PARTY is split.
See what happens when one takes a principled stand over business-as-usual, taking what was once perceived as a radical and too risky position (so much for perception), and going from a new third-party into a major party in just a few years, you see results. You see promises of freedom finally being fulfilled for all its people. You see people gladly joining your party for taking a principled stand, and leaving a dying party rot in its own ineptitude, equivocation, and/or milquetoast policies.
Of course the political game today is rigged so much, via discriminatory debate policies and a willful media, it makes an emerging third-party virtually impossible to grow. Perhaps the new media will continue to grow and be influential in changing the game. But for the time being we are stuck with leftist radical vs squishy middle always on the verge of collapse from its ineptitude.
Either way we're screwed if we continue to squander our opportunities with the lowest common denominator. If we cannot vote for and rally behind the best and brightest in a Republican primary, the future looks bleak. :-/
