The Shiites attacked the Iranian Embassy because of they thought an Iranian TV show insulted a cleric. This is not a good sign. Bashra is in a state of mob rule right now.

Iran might turn out to be what "unites" iraqi's willing to be unighted.....the fact remains that Persians and Arabs are not the same, muslim sect notwithstanding....iraqi Arab shiites aren't interested in becoming 2nd class to Persian shiites......same goes for iraqi Kurds and sunnis. JMO.
Well the Brits were all too happy to lead the Iranian influence grow in Basra.
"As long as you keep it down" they were happy for the relative calm, and let alot of strong theocratic enforcement go on, and it leads to this kind of stuff.
Now they are finding that 'relative calm' was just Iran biding its time.
