Weekend Talk Show *Preview* for Saturday June 17th and Sunday June 18th, 2006 (not the live thread)

The main message is the Sunday Shows.  Message 1 will be the Saturday Shows and message 2 will be the show guest links post.  Then I'll post the ping list.

ABC This Week (George Stephanopoulos)

CBS Face The Nation (Bob Schieffer)

CNN Late Edition (Wolf Blitzer)

Fox News Sunday (Chris Wallace)

NBC Meet The Press (Tim Russert)

This is NOT intended to be the live Sunday Morning Talk Show thread. I trust AB will do that as usual. This is strictly a preview of who will be on the main shows. The idea is to give folks a chance to muster their resources for that thread.

I would particularly ask that anyone with specific knowledge or resources about the topics / guests announced for these shows post them here so that the rest of us can go into the shows with a heads up on what to look for.

Lindsey Graham: proof that you can live without a brain or a backbone

Okay, it did not take very long before you had me laughing out loud.

Ping

The Weekend Preview Thread is up

If you would like on or off my ping list please Freepmail me

I'm back!  Having survived Boston (with the special pleasure of meeting Alas Babylon!) I can now return to my official duties... sharing my priceless and spot on opinions!!!!!! (please remember to note my tag line)

The most interesting guest to me will be Tony Snow.  Based on the majority of Google News hits for "Tony Snow" it looks like the long knives are out over the "2,500 is a number" remark (forget the rest of the statement, just spin the number as an attack).  This is a big time test for Tony.

I'm particularly proud of the news links I dug out searching on both John Podesta and Simon Rosenberg.  I got a new perspective on the machinations in the Democrat party from those articles.  I think their on air meeting this weekend is a significant political event and could very well go a long way to determine whether the Democrats are united for the elections this fall and in '08.  Podesta may be making the opening move by the Hillary camp to the Dean/MoveOn.ORG camp on network television.  I also find it interesting that Rosenberg, Deans chief rival for the DNC post, has emerged as one of "his" guys, at least being presented as such at the Kos convention.  Perhaps this is the beginning of a grand alliance within the Democrat left?

The dominant meme appears to be that Bush has had a good month in Iraq, so far, but it's now time to get back to all of the bad things that the media wants to concentrate on.  Oh, and the Democrats may be totally in disarray and not have a brain in their heads, but it's obvious to everyone (in the media) that they're going to win in November... isn't it?

Hi Phsstpok!
Welcome back! Hope you had a good time in Beantown.

Thanks again for all your hard work this week. Loved your comment next to Lindsey. Well, Mr. Potato Head does it again - only has Al Murthaqawi on w no Pubbies to dispute what he says. I'm sure Timmy will be in all his glory - -asking the real tough questions of this Dim /s

I'm really looking forward to seeing/listening to Tony. IIRC this is his 1st time on the Sun shows since taking his new job and he should also have some interesting thoughts on Iraq after just returning from the Prez's surprise trip there.

Zbigniew Brzezinski.

Anyone who had ANY question about what was wrong with the Carter Administration discovered the answer in 5 secs of the PBS interview with this twit. I was flipping channels and heard him ranting and raving about "These sorts of Imperialistic Actions in Iraq have no place in modern times, they are doomed to failure".

Ok, that sort of wacko ranting may be part and partial of the Moonbat leftist speak these days but a former US National Security adviser SHOULD have a better grasp of reality then this nonsense. This is such a completely stupid statement in regards to Iraq one has no idea where to start responding. Best to just laugh at the absurdity and move on. There was not one factually coherent, intellectually honest statement in his rant so of course the Sunday shows will fall all over themselves to book him.

From John Podesta: "We can't solve the problem of global warming without multilateral action; or proliferation without actors operating in concert with another," he told the FT. "Ultimately, that means we have to accept constraints."

We must bow to the UN and the ICC. Nice to know in which direction they would take us. I don't care to go there.

Can Dems win House with unity on Iraq? John Podesta and Simon Rosenberg weigh in

Unity on Iraq??? Excuse me, 39 Democrat Senators and 43 Democrat Congresscritters told the Leadership to go screw themselves in the votes on Iraq this week. I know all the Democrat mouthpieces are out there spinning for all they are worth but this quite possibly was the most significant defeat of a Party's leadership platform in recent times. This is was a complete vote of No Confidence in the current Leadership of the Democratic party from Dean all the way to Pelose. They did not just LOSE the vote, they were humilitated, spanked, stomped flat.

OK, we beat Saddam when I was in office but then left all of the tough problems for others to solve, therefore you should look to me for advice on how to solve the problems we didn't solve when we had the chance

Love it!

Fabulous addition to the Murtha info on an FR thread, below, taken from the NRO Media Blog:

Murtha: Change Directions Like Clinton Did In Somalia

I'm going to forward links to both the original NRO piece and the above FR thread to little Timmah on the What would you ask our guests link on the MTP web site.

Great catch, Pissant.

'This Week' will NOT air on Sunday, June 18, due to ABC's coverage of World Cup soccer.'

How would you know? In our market (Seattle area) they seemed determined to kill off any residual interest that viewers might have had to watch by shifting the airing times or preempting it altogether.

Of course I only noticed only because I used to tune in for George Will's contribution before he went bonkers.....

Or Annapolis, or the US Navy, for that matter.
