DIXIE CHICKS QUESTION YOUR PATRIOTISM (soldiers& flag in videos sickening display patriotism)
Michelle Malkin ^
Posted on 06/17/2006 1:13:23 PM PDT by hipaatwo
But don't question theirs (gallon-sized hat tip: Coalition of the Swilling)...
The Chicks can't hide their disgust at the lack of support they received from other country performers. "A lot of artists cashed in on being against what we said or what we stood for because that was promoting their career, which was a horrible thing to do," says Robison.
"A lot of pandering started going on, and you'd see soldiers and the American flag in every video. It became a sickening display of ultra-patriotism."
"The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism," [Natalie] Maines resumes, through gritted teeth. "Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country
I don't see why people care about patriotism."

This chick doesn't have a clue. I hate chicks like this who give us women the "bimbo" label. Sheesh! I'm curious if she ever read a history book? Lady, get a clue and then hush.

Democrats like to feign pained offense if you question their patriotism, but I think we should stop falling for it.
They aren't patriotic. If you don't believe in the principles the country was founded on, if you blame your country for every ill in the world, and for every ill in your life, its hard to imagine why anyone should call you patriotic.
Patriotism isn't automatically a good thing. There are probably a hundred countries out there where being a flagwaver would be a sin, so far short of basic morality do they fall.
And if you feel that this country is one of those that fall so short you couldn't possibly love it, why would you even want to pretend to be a patriot? But thats my point. They do feel that way, and we should stop letting them pretend to feel a love that they manifestly do not feel.

It's kinda pathetic when a touring musical act has to post a message on their own website that
No shows have been cancelled due to negative controversy stirred up by one of its principle components. If Natalie and their management think that this controversy 'sells', then they are sadly mistaken. Simply pathetic.

They are ALL bleached blondes now, and are costumed like Cyndi Lauper, or Dale Bozzio circa 1984.I used to have a crush on the banjo player, and thought she was prettiest when she had her hair long and natural color (brown). On the other hand, I was a hugh Missing Persons fan... Big fan of Terry and Warren. But then I liked Terry Bozzios work with Zappa and UK too. And Dale was just fun to look at!

Patriotism is not an attribute that nearly everyone has, like eye color or a having favorite song. It is an attribute that those who value it can acquire like a NASCAR rating or becoming an Eagle Scout. Those who claim it falsely are sometimes revealed as frauds. This makes them embarrassed or angry.

Some call this the hate America first crowd. I think it is more complex - some do hate America, but more likely it comes from an inability to understand gratitude.
People have died for this country, so this ditzy chick can spout off like a moron. She is incapable of understanding the gift she has been given.

I don't think she's questioning your or my pariotism...
She's denying (not questioning, since her "questions" are purely rhetorical)that our (the "we" in "our" refers to most people in America) patriotism is a defect, that patriotism itself is wrong.
I would give her points for her honesty, but I'm betting she'll go nuts when someone points out this means by her own (stupid) definition she isn't patriotic.

"The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism," [Natalie] Maines resumes, through gritted teeth. "Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country

There are a lot of liberals (especially up here in the People's Republic of Massachusetts) who eschew any pride whatsoever in this country. They'll put the 'Support Our Troops' sticker on their Subaru, but wouldn't be caught dead with an American flag on their person, car or home. They see America as 'the bad guy', but will still take advantage of its prosperity and security. Yet, don't draw attention to that fact or they feign 'offense'---which is really anger at being called on their hypocrisy.
This is why I think the Democrats will lose in November. Their 'patriotism' is mere words without the feeling to back it up. They are Natalie Maines on the inside, and Nancy Pelosi and her carefully vague talking points on the outside. (Now see if you sleep at night with that picture in your head).
Those who understand America will not fall for false faces like Pelosi's (I mean that literally and figuratively).
