Houston area flooding (Houston FReepers, please post updates here)

Posted on 06/19/2006 7:43:42 AM PDT by Miztiki

Looks like Houston is a mess and things could get a whole lot worse.

How is your part of town looking? Roads? Flooding?

We're in Pearland near where 1128 and 518 (Broadway) intersect. Our yard has a small amount of standing water but all looks well for now.

The water is level with the ground, we have a dockwater lake!

We've got one guy who hasn't made it in, but it's nicer without him here anyway. ;-)

Send us some more salsa and it's a deal.

You are KIDDING. I have a doctor's appointment at San Felipe and Voss at three this afternoon. And then I have to go to Curves.

Is OKR and North Post Oak near your office? That floods like hell!

As for Psycho Dog . . . well, it's exactly what I'd expect from a good Psycho Dog! The Dread Boston Salty didn't want to go out. I had to hold an umbrella over him.

It rained that much? How deep is the dock at its deepest?

If that would work, I'd send 55 gallon drums.

How deep is the dock at its deepest?

Five and a half feet. It would have crested and overflowed but for the valiant pumping effort ongoing.

We've got some ponding in the warehouse too but that just makes for fun forklift ice follies.

On the west side, near Briar Forest and Kirkwood, it POURED this morning.

My neighborhood! Did it flood?

My part of Katy looks fairly clear. Last night streets were flooded up to the curb, but this morning they're normal. We just had a down pour a few minutes ago, waiting to see what happens.

And the real pisser in all this, is it's supposed to start up again this afternoon. I really don't want to be trapped at work.

What is it - some tropical thingie or just a lot of bands moving across?

Not yet, but there were nice ponds collecting at street corners when I was on my way in.

I'm hoping it stays away this afternoon just long enough for me to get home from workin' out!

It is really pouring here again. I'm not so worried about the rain now, but the possibility of more later sure worries me. The water in my yard is up to my ankles but far from coming into the house at this point.

Anyone know why this was taken out of Texas news and put in chat? This is more than just a heavy rain and is likely seriously affecting millions of people based on what I'm seeing on the news (local and national).

I thought I heard them say on fox this morning that they got something like 6 inches in about an hour and a half. I'm trying to imagine what that even looks like coming down! Stay dry!

Oh that ought to be a fun drive. Especially if the afternoon storms hit like they are saying. I am not going to the gym tonight. I'd never get home!

Yep, my office building is next to the Forum. I just called in to work, and they still have water there. I am going to wait a bit longer and try to make it in. Heck I live out at West Mount Road and I45, that intersection is always underwater.

As for Psycho Dog . . . well, it's exactly what I'd expect from a good Psycho Dog! The Dread Boston Salty didn't want to go out. I had to hold an umbrella over him.

LOL, she's a trip, that's for sure. Came in her doggy door just soaking wet. Silly mutt.

It's a straight shot out San Felipe from where I am on Post Oak - barring the construction between Chimney Rock and Fountainview - but San Felipe is a water trap. I have no idea why that street drains not, but it don't.

Nope, what they have is a low pressure area to the east of us that is causing the storms to start to curl up and back on themselves. They expect the low pressure area to move west across Houston and bring the rain back with it.... if I am understanding the weather guy correctly.
