When he said our troops should redeploy to Okinawa, I figured he was having a momentary senior lapse, and the wrong name came out. I was willing to assume he meant somewhere else.

Now that it's clear he MEANT Okinawa, I can only marvel at the left's ability to take seriously the comments of a man who is so obviously clueless about the war we are fighting.

I think the old goat is on to something. We can bomb them back into the stone age (short trip) from Okinawa (sp?). Then when every one is dead, let the place cool off and the oil is ours. I didn't think democrats were in favor of this kind of behavior but I guess I was wrong. Is that what you mean Jack?

I heard that Okinawa is asking us to leave. I guess we could set up on Midway or Guam. Murtha loves goony birds anyway. (he are one)

REP. MURTHA... We can go to Okinawa.

ROTFLMAO! Does anyone take this moron seriuosly? 'Redeploy to Okinawa'? The battle is in Iraq you dope! We're fighting them there. When your enemy has to fight to defend his own territory in his own territory, he's already lost half the battle. I really think he is senile.

From the actions of Murtha in the last six months it is evident to me he is suffering from the onset of dementia.

Helpful to see this in black and white. Clueless and feckless as Murtha is, I still had trouble believing my own ears Sunday. But, yes, apparently he really is that stupid!

I'll say it again, this man is the key to 2006. Combining Ann's point about hiding BS statements and "policies" behind untouchable figures the MSM adores cannot erase reality and rewrite history.

If we listened to this guy Al Z would be alive.
We listened to him before, it was a disastor.

No matter how much you may hate the current people in power, you can't turn power over to someone who has a proven track record of being WRONG and DANGEROUS.

It's not an alternative if it's a disater.

How about somebody polling the voters in Murtha's district:

1. "How many of you are sorry that you supported Representative Murtha?"

2. "Does Murtha speak for you?"

3. "Do you think Rep. Murtha should withdraw from Congress?"

This guy might be crazier than Gore! OK Murtha, so you move 100,000 troops to Okinawa and North Korea assumes you're staging to attack them and lobs a few nukes at the US. Good going, Einstein.

[Congressman Murtha said, “Let’s redeploy them immediately to another country in the Middle East. Let’s get out of Iraq and go to another country.” ]

Yeah. Whenever I need to find something in my garage, I look in the kitchen. What a stupid ass!

As many of us understand at FR, this man is very dangerous. He is not going to be called on this. Diane's campaign can bring it up, but how many democrates in his district are going to vote him out of office. Unless the RNC, the Whitehouse, and all less then RINO's in both houses start to fully support this president on his WOT, the public will continue to get mixed signals, wrong ideas, not in the least be educated even slightly at the level say many of us are at FR and other conservative/military sites.
And this is what this asshole and his far left liberal associates bet on.

People often reach the age of senility, even those who have been war heroes in earlier days! Mr Murtha has seemed to cross that milestone.. He needs to be retired..........

What no one has touched on in this thread is that comments like this raise what, to me, is the most important question of all:

Why do people like Murtha, and much of the left, even care so much that we have a military contingent in Iraq, in the first place? Yes, so we have a military contingent in Iraq. So what? What's it to them? Why do they obsess on it every day? Why? do? they? care?

Murtha's repeated comments make it clear that neither outright "pacifism" nor an isolationist "we shouldn't have troops overseas at all" can explain his stance. After all, he's all too willing to pull the troops to Kuwait or Okinawa or North Korea for all I know, he salivates over permanent bases and long bombing runs and pretends that he still cares about the ability to go after the Zarqawis of the world. He's no peacenik hippy.

That said, his (boneheaded, inexplicable) position is: ANYWHERE BUT IRAQ. For some reason he, and his followers, seems to be ok with our troops being ANYWHERE as long as they aren't in Iraq. Iraq is special, a super magical off-limits-zone for the American military. Put the military next to Iraq, have them flit in and out, fly over it, bomb it, from elsewhere... a neighbor... Diego Garcia... Okinawa... Nantucket... somewhere. AS LONG AS IT'S NOT IRAQ ITSELF.

But why? What's the big deal - to him - about them being in Iraq? What's the big deal to any Democrat? I don't get it.

Here's what I think the answer is:

Bush put the military contingent in Iraq, and Bush wants it to stay in Iraq. Therefore, Democrats want it out of Iraq. That's enough for them. That's the extent of their geopolitical military-strategical thinking on the subject. Bush X, therefore they: not-X.

Seriously, just watch Democrats make dumb statements like these, and then you give me a better explanation.

I've said in other threads that I think that Mister Murtha is trying to polish his Anti-American bona fides to win the support of the leftist blogosphere; and to out-undermine Ms. Pelosi in order to to win the speakership of the House (if the Dems take the House).

I now think that Mister Murtha may be in need of...

1. a thorough drug screening, and/or

2. a comprehensive brain scan.

Okinawa?

.

Can anyone post info on just what responsibilities the "heroic" John Murtha was performing in Viet Nam and what decorations he received? Did he receive J F'n Kerry types of decorations or did he actually earn some? Was he a REMF or was he a leader?

REP. MURTHA: Well, it—you know, they—when I say Okinawa, I, I’m saying troops in Okinawa. When I say a timely response, you know, our fighters can fly from Okinawa very quickly...

Are we sure this drooling moron used to be a marine? I'm starting to wonder if maybe the real Murtha got kidnapped by space aliens, and they left a damaged and defective clone in his place ...
