Republicans argue that conservatives have cornered the market on new ideas. Not so, say Democrats, who will have a magazine of ideas to prove it.
Kenneth Baer, who was a speechwriter for Vice President Al Gore, and Andrei Cherny, director of speechwriting for 2004 presidential nominee John Kerry, are the editors of the magazine that will be launched Tuesday. The quarterly publication will be titled, "Democracy: A Journal of Ideas."
Democrats argue that the party is still living off the New Deal and needs to update its ideas about government.
The topic for the first panel discussion and magazine launch: "Is Politics Brain Dead? (Or Does the Battle of Ideas Still Matter?)
"Democrats" and "ideas" are mutually exclusive!
"Republicans argue that conservatives have cornered the market on new ideas. Not so, say Democrats, who will have a magazine of ideas to prove it. "
No no... This is funny, the RATS have ideas but you have to pay to read them.
Alex, what is "the thinnest magazine ever printed"?
First issue's theme should be......
"Are the Demagogues Brain Dead? And Will the MSM Even Notice?"
Idea #1: Raise taxes
Idea #2: Raise taxes

Idea #n: Raise taxes
Thinner than the "Big Book Of French War Heroes".
More like..
"The Flier of Lies"
A magazine? Published quarterly? BWAHAHAHA! Don't the dems know that this is the internet age (after all, Gore, one of their own, invented it) and that even newspapers are "yesterday's news." Magazines published quarterly are sooooooo 20th century. But then, so are the dems.
*Snicker* At least they're consistent..
Bongs = bonds. My apologies in exciting any Libertarians.
ROFL!...I wonder if there magazine and ideas will be any more successful than their two candidates.
So the demonrats want the keys to the nation?
Rec-on by now, the demonrats believe their own lies and their own bile and filth which they spew when opening their stench of a mouth to claim they didn't denounce when the stream flowed a bottomless swamp of lies of muck and walk like a duck, talk like a duck, and swear 100% I'm not a duck.
But if that's the way the demonrats want to go about their attempt to draw control, then I wish them well.
"The quarterly publication"
Quarterly as in every four years.
This journal will be a very very thin booklet!!!
However, to be more precise what WOULD be be the Mother of all Hilarious Titles would be "Democrats to Launch 'Journal of Good Ideas'"
Am trying to think of one good speech. . .just one. . .or even one good, impressive. . .idea contained therein.
World's smallest journal?
Which will be a better read - this piece of fiction - or the Unibomber Manifesto?
Debug.print "RAISE TAXES!"
Next i
Well, their choice of former Gore and Kerry staffers is expirational. They are looking in all the wrong places, though. Zell Miller could provide a few ideas - and the good ones, too.
Does each installment come with a matching set of crayons?
This is a great idea!! sarcasm intended.
Old media is dying and news print is all but drying up. More and more truely scholarly journals are going open access via the internet. So the bright idea leave of the RATS is to think of a truely archaic strategy to be sham "scholars". a new think tank jounral with one subscriber--George Soros. And on top of it all, they pick their C grade students as editors as well. Of course the alternatives were the Grade A plagerist Joe Biden or the proven college cheater "The Swimmer".
I guess barely-smarter-than-dirt may be their best scholarly option after all.
They already have a couple of publications that explain all of their ideas. One is called "The Communist Manifesto", and the other is "Das Kapital".
All they will need is a piece of paper a little smaller than a postage stamp. They have no had a new idea as far back as I can remember in 67 years.

LMAO......everytime Frenchie or algore opened their mouths I muted the tv...and these guys wrote for them....
Can you call one blank page a "Journal"?
Fixed.
"Democrats" and "ideas" are mutually exclusive!"
I suppose Soros' fingerprints are on this.
Question, I wonder if they will have one of those tear out reader response cards, you know, where you punch out a chad to get further information from one of the advertisers??
LOL
I wonder which DemRat (Sandy Burgler?) managed to get his hands on a list of Republican ideas and issues? I mean, they've pulled this 'Me Too' bs before. Look for them to parrot each and every Republican issue that they 'think' will get them votes. Nothing new!
Republicans argue that conservatives have cornered the market on new ideas. Not so, say Democrats, who will have a magazine of ideas to prove it.
yeah, ideas like pay to play "earmarks" and "lobbying" efforts.
I'd say there is a common lack of common sense.
Hey most of the Democrats are on something or they would not act the way they do.
You forgot make 100,000,000 new potential voters at the expense of common citizens.
Ahahahaha! That's the funniest thing I've read all day! Thanks for the much needed chuckle.
"Bongs = bonds. My apologies in exciting any Libertarians."
I think they're going to lose a lot of voters between "Tax the proceeds from all kids' lemonade stand sales as capital gains" and "Charge Ann Coulter with hate crimes and summarily execute her."
Page one. Title
Page two. The end
I must be confused because I thought they already had magazines promoting their ideas. Time, Newsweek, and what about the dailies, New York Times, the LA Times, and what about ABC,CBS, NBC and CNN.
I really don't think their problem is they don't have ideas, or that the American people don't know who they are and what they stand for. In fact, I would suggest the problem is the American people know all too well what the Democrats would do if they should gain power again.
They know all this, so why the magazine? Could it be a way to get around campaign finance reform? Candidate A writes an article, they pay (very well) for the article, and it is really not a campaign contribution, is it?
Nah. They probably paid their new think tank, American Majority Institute, to come up with something (ANYthing) to publish. But, as you can see by the name they came up with, for the think tank (Majority) they're not going to be able to 'think' about anything but how/why they lost the last three elections. They're tunnel-vision impaired!
We know, "save social security, guarantee a woman's right to choose, health care for everyone, and no war on terror." These are their "new ideas".

Where is my Hellen Thomas fold out?
LOL!! Good one.
Ya mean they're finally going to update The Playbook?
It's like Franken deciding all the networks and all the newspapers but two, in the whole country weren't enough to get out the liberal message. And he had to do a radio show. Do they ever look around and notice reality?
Liberals are the establishment.
What's next? A special program to teach liberalism to high school students because there aren't enough liberal teachers to do the job?
