LOST LIBERTY HOTEL GETS SECOND WIND--AN AIRPORT

LOST LIBERTY HOTEL GETS SECOND WIND--AN AIRPORT Eminent Domain for Hot Air Balloons?

(New Hampshire). Over the weekend towns across the state of New Hampshire received a unique proposition from the man who attempted the Lost Liberty Hotel project. Apply the Supreme Court's "Kelo vs. City of New London" decision to those who voted for it as an anniversary gift and gain a new airport for hot air balloons in the process.

"I'm looking for a small town in New Hampshire to make a loud roar against the Kelo decision on its anniversary-June 23rd," stated Logan Darrow Clements.

According to the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in "Kelo vs. City of New London" a government may use eminent domain to seize homes and land to promote economic development or increase tax revenue. Meanwhile, New Hampshire statute XXXIX chapter 423 allows a town to seize land for an airport outside its border. Since this statute does not require the land to be adjacent territory any town in New Hampshire could seize land inside any other town. Thus any town in New Hampshire could seize David Souter's land in Weare, N.H. or Stephen Breyer's land in Plainfield, N.H. for the creation of an airport.

The airports will be operated by a victim of eminent domain abuse. Thor Solberg owns a private airport in Readington, New Jersey which could soon be taken by eminent domain using the logic of the Kelo ruling. On May 16, 2006 the voters of Readington approved a bond authorizing the acquisition of his land. Mr. Solberg's Airport, which was built by his father, hosts one of the largest hot air balloon festivals on the East Coast.

Said Mr. Solberg before the vote, "If the government takes my airport by eminent domain I am ready, willing and able to run the Lost Liberty Airports in New Hampshire. Our annual hot air balloon festival has been remarkably successful. Thousands of people from all over the country attend annually. It could be a real asset to the local economy and it's guaranteed to put your town on the map."

Logan and Thor will need to find just one town in New Hampshire out of 236 where a majority of town council members want to remember the Kelo decision by applying it to those who voted for it.

This shouldn't be difficult. On July 20, 2005 the University of New Hampshire released a poll showing that 93% of the state's residents were opposed to the Kelo ruling.

Said Clements, "An airport makes a great anniversary gift for a Supreme Court Justice who likes eminent domain."

The motto for the Lost Liberty Airports will be "Live Free or Fly".

A video about the planned airports will be distributed by satellite to TV newsrooms across the nation on Thursday June 22. It will also be available for download on the Internet. TV reporters who wish to receive the video should e-mail "logan@freestarmedia.com" with the subject "Want Video Press Release about Airports". The satellite coordinates and website where the video can be downloaded will be sent out by e-mail on June 21.

Wouldn't it be a shame if they decided to resign from the SCOTUS because they needed to find another place to live...

Approximately 17% of New Hampshire residents serve in their state legislature.

I remember when the liveliest place in Readington was the all-in-one general store, gas station and post office. Smaller than Sam Drucker's in Hooterville.

The Kelo decision and CFR: the Founding Fathers would consider them two examples of why we must never compromise our second amendment rights.

How about Dixville Notch? Goldwater took it 8 votes to 1 in 1964. Bush took Kerry 19 to 7.
