Kerry extends troop withdrawal date

Pushes 2007 deadline in proposal to remove US soldiers from Iraq

WASHINGTON -- Senator John F. Kerry is pushing back by six months the deadline he wants to set for removing combat troops from Iraq, as he seeks to build support in the Senate for his plan for troop withdrawal.

The proposal to be offered by Kerry today would require President Bush to remove nearly all US troops from Iraq by July 1, 2007. The Massachusetts Democrat's initial plan -- to remove troops by the end of 2006 -- received just six votes in the Senate last week, and the later date is intended to build support for the proposal, said April Boyd, a Kerry spokeswoman.

``Every vote for a deadline withdrawal is Congress saying to President Bush that we will not accept war without an end policy in Iraq," Boyd said.

Yet the concept of any deadline for troop withdrawal remains controversial among Democrats. Prominent Democratic senators, including Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York , have rejected the idea of setting a time frame for bringing home troops.

He voted for immediate withdrawel before he voted against it.

The policy of setting a date is flawed, so THAT he sticks with.

Republicans should grab this version of his bill and put it up for a vote like they did last week. Then everytime someone drafts a bill like it, they do the same until the troop deadline for withdrawl is 2020.

In the alternate reality world of John Kerry it is not a flip or a flop. This is a Kerry Executive Order.

I heard Kerry on Imus this morning. His proposal does everything for everybody. The proposed legislation allows the US to keep troops there if needed (special forces). He does not expect the legislation to go anywhere, but he wants us to know that he has a better way. And that everything bad that has happened so far is Bush's fault. He had no comments on everything that has happened that is good, though.

If I weren't so busy trying not to barf I would have turned him off.

That's nice.

Cindy Sheehan wants to accelerate the deadline for removing combat troops.

Both of their voices carry about the same authority on the subject.

Next question?

Was that really his initial plan? I thought that six or eight months ago he said the troops should be out by May of THIS year. Am I remembering wrong?

ROFLMAO! Once again John "Vichy" Kerry demonstrates why he must never be President of the USA. It gives me hope for our country and the world that he is not already president, but on the other hand nearly 50 million or so of our voters actually wanted him to be president, which is terrifying indeed.

Soon he will have been "for withdrawal before he was against it" and "for the terrorists before he was against them." Poor deluded sap, he really just can't make up his mind......
