"I don't know about the pretending to care part, but she does take the risk and makes the effort to go entertain the troops."
I saw the show with the troops this past Tuesday. If nothing else she deserves lots of credit for going into a dangerous war zone to entertain. The men and women soldiers that made up her audiences seemed to really enjoy themselves. One women soldier, I think it was in Baghdad, said that she had lost a good friend the day before and that she had been very low. She remarked that it was good to be able to laugh and be distracted for just a little while. I think that what Kathy and the others did was a very good thing. I support the war and the troops 100%, but I must be honest and say that I don't know that I would have the courage to go over there.

Rush went to Afghanistan.
The troops request him on radio for three full hours.
She deserves zero credit.
She is a disgrace.

Actress/comedian Kathy Griffin delivered not comedy but her vitriolic personal opinion as she shouted, to loud audience applause while she gesticulated with her arms:
The President is a moron! I'm saying it. I don't care. He's an idiot. Cheney is evil. I'm sick of, impeach them, get them out! I hate them! I hate them. Get them out. They got to go!"
She later pleaded: What is it going to take for you people? Get Bush out! Impeach! Out! Out! Out!

There is no way a person can support our troops and not support their mission. What about Clinton's adventures in the Balkans?

I'll give Janeane Garofalo some credit, at least she did admit that protesting Clinton's wars "just wasn't cool."

I supported neither the war or our troops in the war against Yugoslavia. At least I am not a hypocrite.

I don't care if she moved to Iraq. I do.
We've got enough terrorist scum here. We don't need to import leftist trash like her. We don't want her.

No real Conservative would promote Kathy Griffin, a detestable lib, who has said vile things about conservatives over the years. I don't care if she moved to Iraq. New freeper, World_Events, from May 30, 2006 RED FLAG
=============================================
Griffin's been to Iraq in full body armor and k-pot because it was required where she was. I saw the show. They were scared shitless (for good reason) but hung in there. I for one respect and applaud them for that.
Griffin goes to Baghdad - Hannity has been to Okemo Mountain. Who really supports the troops?

If you are going to Iraq to promote yourself in any way, you are going for the wrong reasons.
Lots of conservatives have gone, including Rush. And also including the President of the United States, twice.
I respect guys like Gary Sinise the most, who do the hard work, put his mouth is, and really truly make a difference.
Ms Griffin is simply trying to get herself off the D list. I wish her luck with that.

She is probably the most singlely irritating person on TV, IMO.

I agree. I actually saw her wandering around alone playing the slots in Las Vegas a few years back.
It is amazing what plastic surgery, lighting, make up and Photoshop can do for a person. But call me when it has the same effect on someone's personality.

A bit arrogant and presumptive of you isn't it? Unless of course Griffin confided her reasons to you.
Hollywood hates the Army. Going to Iraq won't move her anywhere in that culture except further out.
Bottom line for me is simple, she went to a war zone and entertained our troops. That deserves recognition and respect. Unless we are so petty that we are blinded by our distatse for her perceived politics that we have become too small to do so.

Could be. Sorry, I find her irritating and always have.
That does not diminish the fact that she entertained the troops. What does bely her position on this however, is dissing those who she thinks haven't gone. Going to Iraq is not a competition and it most certainly isn't a "look at me, look at me" kind of thing.
A ton of good conservatives HAVE been there without making a big fuss over it. But to be fair, it's possible that is not her fault.
So before I get myself in any more trouble, I'll just say...Thanks. And leave it at that.

BTW, I like your profile page.
Do you know her personally?

Agreed.
I do not know her and I think she is funny for about five minutes.

I liked her on Suddenly Susan, although often get her confused with the redhead from News Radio. One of my favorite shows of all time.
Sigh. I miss Hartman. Anyway, yes, I think five minutes is about right. LOL.
To: pollyannaish
News Radio was great. What did it last, half a season?

Actually four seasons, believe it or not. I think Phil Hartman's death did it in. John Lovitz did a heroic job of trying to save it, but Hartman was the Ted Baxter of that show and it just didn't work as well without him.
