She gets serious about the reality of the situation. “This is not a Toby Keith song,” she comments. This is real.

Toby Keith has been in Iraq and Afghanistan more than once as I recall. He's more in tune with the regular folks and soldiers in a way that Kathy Griffin will never know. His songs touch those military personnel with a reality that Kathy will no doubt be oblivious to her whole life.

I commend her for entertaining our troops. But this Toby Keith crack is gratuitous, sh*t spewing agenda rhetoric.

By your logic, Jack Murtha and Ted Kennedy should also be commended. Both of them went to Iraq.

Griffin is a detestable lib who is about as funny as Al Franken is brilliant.

Hannity has raised more money for the children of fallen soldiers in the last three years than any nitwit like Griffin.

Hannity has also assisted in preventing anti-American leftists in the Democratic party from taking the Presidency and control of Congress at a time of war.

The troops do not need PTC(Pretend to Care) Liberals to ruin their day with bad jokes from an F-list celebrity who saves her sharpened knives for backstabbing them and their commander-in-chief when she gets back home.

=================================================

Murtha and Kennedy are politicians whose votes help determine what goes on with the military. It is their job to go. Every Member of Congress should go.

Griffin is a comic, she is under no such obligation or compulsion. She decided to put her skin in the game and had to jump through hoops to get approval (as do all entertainers). She went. She put herself at the same risk as anyone else there with the exception of front-line combat troops. For that she should be commended regardless of her personal politics. Last I looked IEDs on the road to the airport in Baghdad didn't survey their targets' views on anything before tearing them up.

Hannity raises money through activities that include self-promotion. The money is welcome but frankly there is no comparison, especially since he makes a pretty good living by wrapping himself in the flag. Hard to understand for a WABC shill but there it is...she (the hard-core lib) went in, what is Hannity's favorite phrase? oh yeah, "in harm's way"...he, the self-appointed arbitor of who is a "great American", stays home. Facts is facts.

The fact is you sound like a LIB because you have chosen to prop up a jerk like Griffin and diminish a man like Hannity.

I pity your twisted logic. It is shameful.

Enjoy being perpetually wrong and inept.

-------------------------------------------------

I respect people who are willing to put themselves in danger for the benefit of the troops, regardless of what I may think of their politics. When, if ever, the Great American does the same he will get the same respect.

You may insult all you want and ping your idols like a good little groupie but the facts stand...Hannity talks a great game and the money he raises is good but it is Griffin who put on the armor and drove the highway of death. And it is you who will not acknowledge the courage it took to do that. It seems people are brave only if you agree with them. That is small.

http://www.boston.com/news/globe/living/articles/2006/06/20/griffins_iraq_tour_is_surprisingly_human/?rss_id=Boston+Globe+--+Living+%2F+Arts+News

"And it turns out there's something appealingly human about a comic who -- to cop a sorry pun -- is perilously close to bombing. We watch Griffin falter in Kuwait, fret about her audience reaction, and alter her material. She seems to score best when she and her costars, Michael McDonald of ``Mad TV" and Karri Turner from the defunct ``JAG," revert to their Groundlings improv days.

The glimpse we see is raucous, profane, and very funny, and the troops' reaction seems to shift from shock to awe. Afterward, one private declares it ``highly inappropriate and hilarious. It was exactly what the soldiers needed."

The private goes on to offer the best argument for why war entertainment is important, and patriotic. She lost a good friend two days earlier. She hasn't slept in two days. A two-hour comedy show was her first and best escape. It's tough to be cynical about that"

Whatever her politics, at least the troops were entertained, they don't get many opportunities to laugh or enjoy whoever celebrity shows up. For this I have more respect for those celebrities that go to iraq/kuwait to entertain the troops than some of the more esteemed members of the conservative movement like michelle malkin. Sorry to disappoint many of you freepers, and this is off topic, but I really dislike michelle malkin. When I was in iraq last year, I emailed her several times to say that I liked her columns and whatnot, and she ignored me. I thought that was pretty 'classy.' There's no way she's too "busy" to read all her emails especially since the header on my email was 'soldier in iraq,' and she recently posted an email from that Marine that sang that parody that got him in trouble.
