Please correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't it be considered an Act of War if we shot down the missle on soverign Korean Land?
While I don't like the idea of Korea testing this missle (or having them in the first place - Thanks Clinton ole buddy boy) I have to wonder are we ready for war against Korea?

Very amusing that the ex-SecDef Clintonista Perry wants to be all bravado and machismo and preemptorily strike the missile site.
Oh but if he and Herr Slickmeisters had been one tenth so ballsy when they were actually in office and not just pandering to a tv camera.
We'd be seeing many less problems today if they hadn't operated from a place of feckless malfeasance.

I'd rather we just take out the launch pad, but the leftists would go nuts over that.

And to think how aggressively and how strongly democrats opposed President Reagan's SDI efforts!!
If, in fact, we were able to shoot it down, I'd love to hear the liberal logic behind why they still oppose any further SDI development.
Yep, no need to be able to defend ourselves against any current or future rogue (or nut case) nation. (s/off)

My solution is to start nuking various countries randomly.
People respect power and fear unpredictibility.

If we bag it, then give Kim the diplomatic equivalent of what my six year old would call a "Neener, neener, neener".Ping

If we are technically at war with Korea, it's been a "peaceful" war. By taking out the missle on their lands, it's an overt action by the US. Are we ready to get into full blown war with them?
Understand that I'm not against, at all, taking out this missle, or their nutcase dictator, I'm just looking at full-blown war with them, wondering about our troops still stationed at the N/S Korea border etc.

Their troops are poor and underfed. South Korea could easily hold them off. Japan might get involved and lend support to SK.
We should engage this now, not later, because China gets stronger by the day.
I am all for war. Hot war. Shooting war.
With millions dead.

My read on this is we will not shoot at the missile unless we believe it will come over our soil which is probably unlikely. So ... they launch over the Pacific and we do nothing. That's what this report says to me.

It's all ocean...

At any azimuth the missile has to cross over land masses before it gets to the Western USA. Japan, for instance, is smack dab in the way.

"And your point is...? If the Three Gorges Dam burst, the resulting flood would kill several hundred million people in the Yangtze flood plain. This is good because...?" Where did I say that Lil'Kim's missle hitting the Three Gorges Dam was "good"?
What I AM saying is that IF it DID hit the Three Gorges Dam, IMHO, the Chinese Gov't would deserve it for not reeling in Lil' Kim when they had and have the chance, but not the desire, because it's not THEIR problem if one (or more) of Lil'Kim's nuclear missles one day hit HERE in the US and KILL MILLIONS !!!!
If the missle DID hit the Three Gorges Dam, the Chinese Gov't probably could care less about if any deaths occured, they probably would be MORE pissed off about Lil'Kimmie messing up their investment in their "prize" TGD.
I don't think we would have to worry about Lil'Kim and his "toys" if there was such an accident, because THEN China would FINALLY give Lil'Kimmie a "time out".........a very PERMANENT "time out".

It's silly to speculate that the U.S. will shoot down the missle on the pad or over NK. Won't happen. We will be watching it VERY closely, and if it even looks like it will come anywhere near the borders of the United States, it will be shot down without question.
Chia-head is risking a major humiliation here.

China would be silent, especially with the Olympics coming up - they need the money and better reputation.
Russia however may get involved and Putin wouldn't be on our side.
It would be interesting....

I have heard some learned conservatives say, the N.Koreans will act provocatively because they know we are not a pack of communist atheists like themselves and their Chinese allies.
The American liberals are run by atheist socialists but the Koreans know that the American liberals are cowards.

It may be silly but speculation is rampant. The exact scenario you brought up was discussed this morning on Fox. If we allow the missile to launch and shoot it down later, Korea gains all the information they need to keep producing warheads.
What I love are people coming out with "diplomatic talks" are all that is needed. Aren't talks what gave them this missile in the first place?

"We must make it very clear just how far more advanced we are than either of these piss-ant countries. We do that by plucking their precious missle out of the sky like an old man swatting a fly."
The idea isn't to knock it out of the sky. The idea is to knock it out of the sky then test one of our own ICBM's and land it right where the NK international border is.
It's called a free shot.
