Seven charged over 'Chicago plot'
BBC ^ | June 23, 2006 | BBC

The US authorities have charged seven men with involvement in a plot to destroy the nation's tallest building, the Sears Tower in Chicago. The men were arrested at a warehouse in Miami, in an undercover operation.

The FBI says the suspects, believed to be Muslims, had pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda, but had no contacts with it.

The group, which was infiltrated by an agent posing as an al-Qaeda member, includes two foreigners - one of them a Haitian - and five US citizens.

"They were persons who for whatever reason came to view their home country as the enemy," US Attorney-General Alberto Gonzales told reporters.

The "Religion of Peace" strikes again. Time to realize that Traditional (not "Radical") Islam is a totalitarian political-religious ideology bent on nothing less than world conquest and subjugation by war, terror or other means. This is not a "War on Terror", but a war on Islamic Revolutionaries-Imperialists. It's time to put all Islamic organizations under intense scrutiny and make clear that certain aspects of Islam, like Jihad or Sharia Law are unacceptable in the US or any civilized country for that matter and those who want to practice Islam in its fullest must give up Citizenship and LEAVE the country.

US and any other country that wants to remain free must declare themselves, Jihad Free and Sharia Free zones and demand that THEIR laws are superior to those of Islam and whenever they come into conflict, the laws of civilized countries should prevail.

They are being portrayed as homegrown terrorists by the MSM who is turning against it's own country only due to our actions against other muslim countries. The message is that Bush is only inflaming hate within our country and outside our country because of his foreign policy.

Don't be surprised when Kerry, Pelosi, Murtha, and the rest of the traitorous ilk in this country jump on this for their own anti-american, pro-power purposes.

Have you seen the New York Slimes headlines? The hard copy headlines are

"Bank Data Is Sifted by U.S. in Secret to Block Terror"
Under a secret Bush administration program initiated weeks after the Sept. 11 attacks, counterterrorism officials have gained access to financial records from a vast international database and examined banking transactions involving thousands of Americans and others in the United States, according to government and industry officials.

Scary isn't it...that the govt can now trace al quaeda funds flowing in and out of the country...what about the rights of terrorists?

Meanwhile.....
The terrorists in Miami are buried in page 9 or something...

What I know about "Nation of Islam" is that they are not Muslims in traditional sense, but Black Racists who mix Islam, Zoroastrianism and a number of other cults. They are also dangerous and should be watched very carefully, but I think the folks who were arrested were not affiliated with Nation of Islam. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if they it turns out that they started out in Nation of Islam and then gravitated toward Traditional Islam, which means Jihad against "Infidels".

I'm not surprised that "New York Slimes" (aka "New York Times" -:)))) is more worried about Bush administration hunting down aggressively Islamic Terrorists than having these Islamists blow the country to bits and pieces.

After all for most of "liberals" (more appropriately should be called Liberal-Socialists or Liberal-Marxists as opposed to Classical Liberals, like John Stuart Mill, Alexis De Tocqueville, etc) it's the US that causes all the problems of the world, like War, Poverty, Pollution and whatever other bad things plague the humanity. So they naturally prefer Islamists to their own country although these Marxian libs should be worried too--If Islamists come to power (God Forbid !), it will be these Libo-Socialists that will be beheaded in the first wave.

I just listened to a report on the Communist News Network (CNN). I really don't know what to think about the whole issue.

1. According to the CNN reporter, it was a government informer who gave the information. A government informer also gave information about Randy Weaver.

2. According to the CNN reporter, these numbskulls wanted "boots for their troops, machineguns, and $50,000 for the Sears Tower operation". They don't sound like they have the ability to plan a holdup at a convenience store. You don't ask for "just" $50,000 for an operation of that scope.

3. According to the CNN reporter, there is a Domestic Terrorism meeting in Cleveland at this time.

I think its time to sit back and wait. It sounds too fishy. These guys may just be a bit too stupid.

It's really a tough political, legal and ethical question how to balance security and liberty. I am not a lawyer and I can't comment professionally at length on such matters.

Nevertheless, can US Constitution and the Bill of Rights be fully applicable toward dangerous totalitarian worshipping Islamist subversives who seek nothing less than to blow the country apart and overthrow it's Constitutional government replacing it with Islamic Law ? Should US Constitution afford protection to those who seek to destroy it ?Shouldn't other rules be applicable to them ?

Here is an interesting article from answers.com on 1918-1921 Palmer raids against Socialists, Communists and Anarchists in the US by then attorney general Alexander Palmer and his assistant, a future FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover.

Thanks for a detailed post with pics.

Here is an interesting 2 years old article by Daniel Pipes about the bust against Islamist organizations in Chicago.

http://www.danielpipes.org/article/2281

"Finally, the case confirms a pattern of culpability among even the most innocent-appearing of Islamic institutions. Two of the three liable groups have known ties to Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist group; Holy Land Foundation serves as its fundraising arm, Islamic Association for Palestine as its political front. But the Quranic Literacy Institute appeared wholly unconnected to Hamas. It is a religious group based in a Chicago suburb that since 1991 has engaged in the pious work of translating Islamic sacred texts from Arabic, then publishing them in English."

"But appearances can deceive. In June 1998, Federal authorities charged QLI with having for nine years supported "a conspiracy involving international terrorist activities and domestic recruitment and training in support of such activities" and seized $1 million of its cash and assets."

"Muslim institutions too often are not what they seem to be. The "Progressive Muslim Union" is actually reactionary. Mosques harbor criminals. Honey companies and Islamic "charities" fund terrorism. A "mainstream" Muslim leader pleads guilty to an assassination scheme."

"The lesson is clear: Wahhabi organizations like the QLI cannot be taken at face value but must be scrutinized for extremist, criminal, and terrorist connections. Extensive research, including undercover operations, is needed to find out the possibly sordid reality behind a seemingly benign exterior."

"It's time to view the Islamic organizations the same way Communist/pro-Communist organizations were viewed during Cold War or Nazi/pro-Nazi organizations during WWII."

We need to simply evaluate how extreme a groups beliefs can be and still be called and protected as a religion. It is not too difficult IMO

Fail 1 or more of the litmus tests below and your not a religion but a hate group.

#1: If your belief commands you to kill or enslave those who are not of your religion then you fail the litmus test. .

#2: If your belief commands you to kill anyone who leaves your organization then you fail the litmus test.

#3: If your belief demands you kill or enslave anyone who writes, draws, speaks negatively about your belief you fail the litmus test.

Any religion come to mind that cannot pass these 3 tests?

"A handout photo provided by the U.S. Department of Justice..."

This statement on each picture.

What we have here is just further proof that the Great Evil of Islam is recruiting African American inmates in prison.

This has been going on for decades. The fruit of the prison generated deathcult is finally becomming a reality.

Any, and all Islamic connection in the prison community should be put under a microscope... and supervised as any other gangbanger unit.

This has nothing to do with prisoner rights. Prisoner rights??? Felons should not have rights!

Squash the Islamic influence in the penal system! It is nothing but a jihad recruitment tool...

Should the US Constitution afford protection to Americans accused by the government of seeking to destroy it. Should an accusation by the government mean the Constitution no longer restrains them from trampling the rights of whomever they target?

I get a feeling this is more than likely a scam that found the wrong mark. These guys thought they'd get $50,000+ from some hadji in exchange for crazy promises. Dumb and criminal, but not a reason to set aside the Constitution.
