All of his fund raising drives/dinners in New York have come a cropper;

Music to this New Yorker's ears. Where are you getting your info. from as I'd like to keep tabs on what States are contributing to this charlatan.

The New York Post. It's on line ( I get the hard copy, though ), they have an archive and I'm sure that you can find this old info there. :-)

McCain is insane and you are nuts to support him. He is not a war hero, for God's sake he got his plane shot down. He only survived, not hero stuff and since then he has hurt the military and enroached on my free speech rights. And he cheated on his first wife so that he could marry into money.

Oh dear!!

"Moderate dems will not vote for a Feingold or Kerry and the thought of another Clinton in the WH, is not appealing. They may join the independents and look at a candidate who they believe is a straight talker, has worked closely with the dems, and can bring unity in DC."

It sounds so logical, it scares me. People really are tired of politics gone nasty. It would be a shame if the nastiest man there fools both sides into electing him.

An attempt to portray him as less than he is by use of meaningless, unseemly and disengeuous non-argument is a futile exercise. Your opinion, however disjointed and ill-informed though it may be, is just that, your opinion; you're welcome to it. And you might note I do not accuse you of being ''nuts'' for having such an opinion; that's why we vote on persons and issues. I could consider any candidate, doctor, lawyer, preacher or Joe Sixpack walking down the beach and find some ostensibly rational, indeed compelling, reason to denounce him/her as a (fill in the nefarious adjective of choice) based on some fanciful, imagined or false misdeed in their personal history.

Some of us in my generation survived a futile conflict coming home with some awards and recognitions that bedeck our left front uniform tunic. I can think of many and inspired reasons why those are really undeserved and ill-gotten and that, therefore, the wearer is a fraud and unworthy of admission to the Bar, the Bench, a public office or other position of significance. It's that manufactured innuendo or outright accusation of personal dishonor, deceit or associating with unsavory characters that anyone could use to defeat our aspirations; and wrongly so.
