If workers want to earn fat pensions then they should become more motivated instead of producing widgets for 30 years.

Everyone can’t be CEO of General Motors.

What do you think pension funds are? Cradle-to-the-grave socialism?

I always thought pension funds were part of the total compensation package – a postponed paycheck.

Ever heard the word "ethics"? Did your daddy teach you anything concerning them? Apparently not!

As I said previously, tax laws and regulations are what's turning most honest corporate executives into crooks. True, there are some bad apples who deserve lengthy prison sentences. A lot of corporate executives do go out of their way and play by the rules. But then they get fined or jailed for not dotting an "I" on a contract or agreement. Brought to you by the same government who has run the most successful Ponzi scheme in history.

You really don't get it. I doubt you ever will.

Actually, you don't get it, per the tense tone of your argument. You're losing the argument so your resorting to attacks about how my parents raised me. Pathetic.

You are a shame to FreeRepublic. One of the worst of them all.

Peep the screename. There's a reason why I chose it. I hate liberals. I don't "reach out" to them like most conservatives would do. Period.

Why don't you take a hike, like permanently, you're making the rest of look bad.

Who's forcing you to post to me?

if all us un-motivated workers didn't produce the widgets

The price of labor will rise for those who do want to produce widgets then...

there would be no bloated pensions.

More production of widgets mean more compensation for the executives.

You think that because some moron has an MBA from Harvard

If that moron has an MBA from Harvard, he or she will obtain some helluva job. Maybe he or she will become President like an MBA graduate named named Bush did in 2000.

You object to the truth when it discloses the looting of corpoations on a high level? Who is a Maxist? You sound like a corporate communist stealing from the citizens under a different banner than the Reds.

Point out on this thread where I advocated corporate executives stealing.

You can do anything you want to if you apply yourself and put your mind to it.

That is exactly what it is: deferred compensation. The worker agrees to take less pay now in return for a defined pension in the future.

I hope there is a special place in hell for those that have broken their promises to our older workers.

If the executive make bad decisions or loots the company, they still walk away with loads.

Isn't it because a company makes the widgets that allows the CEO to have a job. Too many times we see boards that make decisions that benefit the executives and not the shareholders or the company.

You are arguing with folks who have belatedly reached the conclusion that life isn't fair.

If rank & file workers pensions cannot be funded, then the hell with executive pensions, executive compensation should be first on the chopping block.

Executives sign a contract that stipulates they'll receive X amount of dollars after a certain period or if they're terminated or promoted. It's no different than an NFL player receiving millions when they get hurt or traded.

Thats right, NFL players are hired directly by well informed owners, while corporate executives are hired by, dare I say cabals, of other executives in secret board rooms, and they serve on each others boards. Talk about communitarianism.

You object to the reporting about the extremely excessive pension packages that do much to endanger the health of many businesses. Therefore, you are endorsing the activity which can objectively be described as theft.

How is it "theft?" People negotiate their salaries all the time. Sometimes they negotiate very good salaries. This is entirely legal...

They each seek to control the world for their personal benefit. It is uncontrolled greed dressed with different names.

Corporations aren't seeking control of the world. They wouldn't know what to do with the world if it were handed to them on a silver plater.

Corporations seek dominance in a market. The only time they even look at politics is when it directly impacts their business.

Yeah, and they're smoking Cuban cigars and laughing about how they're screwing over the little guy too over drinks and naked women.

Give me a break.

The real crime is that Exxon is at the top of the list for pension debt to their workers. In a few years, they will put that off on the taxpayers. And one guy gets a $400 million pension.

It's irresponsible. And it's going to pave the way for more government involvement. I'm not mad that they are greedy. I'm mad that their greed is going to result in more government and less freedom.
