Her son, 3 others rammed in DWI
BY RICHARD WEIR DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
The mother of a young bouncer mowed down by an alleged drunken teen who drove his Jaguar into a crowd outside the Glen Cove Golf Club said yesterday that seeing her son in the hospital is "heartbreaking." Maureen Basdavanos spoke before the arraignment of 19-year-old Sayed Khaled El-Waraky, the Virginia college student accused of turning his luxury car into a weapon and plowing it into her son, Sean, 22, and three other young men.
Sean Basdavanos of Glen Cove, a part-time bouncer at the golf club's Tiki Bar, and patron Matthew Granger, 22, of Water Mill, were critically injured, cops said. Two others received minor injuries.
"We have this gorgeous child whose face is now unrecognizable. It's heartbreaking," Maureen Basdavanos, 47, said as she stood next to her husband, Bill, 56.
El-Waraky was remanded to jail yesterday following his District Court arraignment in Hempstead.
Judge Vito DeStefano denied bail for El-Waraky, an Egyptian national who lives in Vienna, Va., and attends American University in nearby Washington.
According to police, El-Waraky was visiting Long Island for the Saturday night birthday party of a college fraternity brother and had gone with his friends to the golf club's bar.
The group had been there for about three hours when El-Waraky got into a shoving match with another patron, police said. "He was loud and unpleasant and intoxicated," said Nassau police Detective Sgt. Richard Laursen.
Assistant District Attorney Bob Hayden, speaking at the arraignment, described El-Waraky as the "instigator" in the barroom fight who had to be "forcibly ejected" from the bar by Sean Basdavanos.
On his way out, Hayden said, El-Waraky "threatened to kill" the bouncer and several others.

Because the driver is a member of TROP so he couldn't have possibly meant anyone harm.

From the article: [The college sophomore was charged with multiple counts of assault, leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury and driving while intoxicated. If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.]
He was charged with "driving while intoxicated".
Accroding to this article, it is his second charge of drunk driving, was charged in 2003 too.

Why does the author feel the need to say "luxury car" and "Jaguar" in the 1st paragraph.
Wouldn't it have been as tragic if he did it in a Chevy Cavalier?

It gets even better, check out this article:
http://www.newsday.com/news/local/longisland/ny-lihit0620,0,4169152.story
From the article:
"But El-Waraky's attorney, Ryan Brownyard of Farmingdale, said his client was reacting to "a mob" who struck him, followed him outside and pounded on his father's black 2005 Jaguar sedan."
And:
"El-Waraky, who was visiting a fraternity brother living in Glen Cove, is a student at American University in Washington, D.C., taking classes in the business school, said university spokeswoman Maralee Csellar.
According to the university newspaper, the Eagle, El-Waraky had a personal Web page on facebook.com, a social networking site.
Under his interests, it reads, "anything fast enough to do something stupid in, women and a lot of alcohol." The site also says he is a sophomore and in the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity, the Eagle said."

Well, gee, I don't know why they mentioned it, perhaps it is the incredulity of wrecking a Jaguar as opposed to a Cavalier. Ask the NY Daily News, and yes, it would have been just as tragic in a Cavalier. Interesting that you would focus on that detail of the article, lol.

And to be fair, I believe it's a coincidence that this kid was a muslim.
He's just another really drunk and stupid college student that got humiliated in front of his friends.
It's not like he yoddled "Allah Achbar" or something.
PS...what's your moniker mean. NYC?

IIRC, the perp's hometown is Vienna, Va which is about 7 miles as the crow flies from the Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Falls Church...considered to be the most dangerous mosque in the U.S. by author and islam watcher Paul Sperry.

This kid is a definite flight risk, hope that bail is not issued, because my feeling is, he'd be gone.
The papers said the car was leased to a company called Cab East LLC out of Maryland, a company owned by his father, Khaled El-Waraky. Then again, our stellar journalists have said his father was a physician, real estate agent and business owner, so who knows.

On his way out, Hayden said, El-Waraky "threatened to kill" the bouncer and several others.
Does this qualify as a terrorist terroristic threat?
When the 'boy' said that, he pretty much let the USA know exactly who and what he stood for.
How many thousands upon thousands college kids have been escorted from a bar and NOT uttered a terroristic threat? Anyone here?
His manhood may have been challenged. He's a muzzlimb, he knows exactly what they taught him at mosque to do in this type of situation. Forget that he's drunk, because his RoP tells him that he can "go undercover" (lie and get into mischief) if it benefits "the cause of islam" he's given "koran" permission to do so.
But the little twerp is too cowardly to strap a jihad-vest on himself and blow up a lot of people in the name of "I-slam (you, infidel)" but he wants to do 'something' to show that even drunk, he's still a man's man. So he rams his daddy's car into the crowd with the intent of carrying out his aforementioned threat.
Personally, put the boy in a cage with a real black jaguar and let's see him be a man's man.

A rich muzzlimb is a cowardly muzzlimb. If that were not true, then Osama bin Laden would be the first into battle. He sends other peoples' children, but he's not even half the man Moohammaed (may he rot in hell) was. At least he had the cajones to lead his killers into battle.

If you're looking for a real cowardly muzzlimb how about this one?

For more information about muzzlimbs, may I recommed reading
The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades) by Robert Spencer.

Muslims in the US, unable to figure out how to wire explosives in vehicles like their brothers in Iraq, have resorted to "drive-over-run-downs" in an effort to kill infidels.
How long before Iran teaches these "American" rag-heads how to work with explosives?

Much of my misspent youth was misspent in bars. I've heard a number of threats of mayhem and murder against bouncers.
I've seen a lot of Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Atheist, Agnostic and perhaps other youths say and sometimes do really stupid things while drunk.
I've heard stories of some doing something as stupid as this, although I was never present when something like this happened.
Therefore the argument that he did this because he's Moslem is unsupportable.
He did this because he was stupid. It may have been temporary stupidity brought on by drinking, or the guy may just be a stupid hotheaded jerk/loser. There are quite a lot of that type born in this country.
Not everything a Moslem does is because he's a Moslem. Sometimes he does something stupid because he's stupid.
