A frustrated jarhead speaks
WorldNetDaily ^ | 6/24/06 | Craig R. Smith

Posted on 06/25/2006 10:13:41 AM PDT by wagglebee

In a recent column, I talked about how the "support" the left has offered the troops is anything but. Apparently, it hit a vein as I have been swamped with e-mail from as far away as Iraq and as close as my hometown – most of it from active and retired servicemen.

While I would love to publish the mail I get from Iraq, it is probably inappropriate at this time. Suffice to say they pay little attention to the likes of Murtha. They are too busy fighting a WAR. However, there was one letter I received that should be read by ever politician in America. It reflects the overwhelming emotion the public is experiencing given the silence and the lack of coverage our two brave soldiers have received over their brutal slaughter at the hands of the enemy. An enemy that has no face, no uniform and no regard for any human life.

Phil is a retired Marine who is 55 years old. He would do anything to, once again, put on the uniform of the country he loves and fight against the threat he knows exists. Phil has experience in defending his nation. He did so with valor during Vietnam. He still relies on his instincts of right and wrong to guide his life. So he was compelled to write his friends a letter. The letter speaks for itself and will not be accompanied by any commentary from me. Special thanks to WND for having the backbone to allow the world to hear the true heart and grit of the American spirit.

My friends,

Now we are told that [the two American soldiers] had their genitals cut off and stuffed into their mouth. They were beheaded. They were tortured unmercifully while still alive by the disciples of Allah, and I hear no words of outrage from the "left" today. Not a single word from Kennedy, Kerry, Pelosi, Howard Dean or Cindy Sheehan. If they speak at all, it is only to blame our president. Shame on the liberals. Shame on the Democrats. Shame on the MSM (mainstream media).

They were U.S. Marines. They were America's finest. They were slaughtered.

There is a growing chorus coming from the "left" today urging us to close Gitmo. At Gitmo we have detained 432 terrorists. These vermin are the worst scum on the planet. We are at war. Can I say that again? WE ARE AT WAR!

At Gitmo these proud, bloodthirsty, murdering cowards have the following amenities:

At Gitmo they eat better than you and me. Yet, all we hear from the "left" today is that we must close Gitmo because of our abuse of those poor terrorists. Lies and audacity.

Meanwhile, when our enemies detain our troops, America's best and America's bravest get slaughtered in the name of Allah.

Where is the treasonous press today? Why aren't the headlines today filled with rage for this subhuman enemy?

My friends, allow me to share just a shred of truth with you: "Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." Said differently? Many in this nation do not deserve the freedom these brave soldiers have provided us. Can you think of another time in history where there was such blindness, hypocrisy and lack of honor?

I am depressed. I am discouraged. I want to fight back. I don't know what to do. I have never felt so uneasy or so helpless. I suppose this letter today is my way of coping with my sadness and anger. Please forgive me.

Will America wake up in time? Will we find the courage to face this enemy and defeat him? If we sleep on, if we continue to give way to the "politically correct," I am afraid we will be overrun and our children will rise up and curse us.

If there was ever a time to pray, perhaps it is in this time.

Semper Fi,

From an old and frustrated jarhead.

This is the very thing that liberals can not bring themselves to admit. Especially the academic "ivory tower" types that have never really had to face the real world.

I have never served in the military so I'm sure I have little room to speak and even less to offer any strategic insight. What I do know is our soldiers are far more brave than I will ever be. I also know that their hands are tied, probably rightly so, to fight under rules of engagement.

I wonder however if some of these old warriors could possibly find their way to fight again, this time under a different banner. I wish there was some wealthy folks willing to fund a private army of mercenairies who could put terror into the hearts of these islamopignazis. Maybe it's too Hollywood but it would be great to think we could have a stealth band of fighter who could find these scum and show them first hand what it's like to be "mistreated."

Maybe they could have a farm in the Iraqi country side where they could bring in some wild boor like the 2nd Silence of the Lambs movie and feed to islamopignazis to them feet first. I bet if eating pork would keep you out of Allahs paridise being eaten by a pig just may ensure that your 5th cousin and his family would be denied also.

Great post!

Note, too, that Iraq's "national unity plan" offers amnesty for those who murdered Americans - including the two young men referred to in the post.

Make no mistake, some of us feel the rage he mentions. We're just not permitted to speak of it.

I think the very best quote EVER on this matter is from Admiral Jeremiah Denton (who was also a POW and US Senator):

It is the soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier,
Who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

I still have to see the media outrage over what was done to 2 of America's finest as well.

I expected nothing from the traitorous media.

I did expect outrage from our own government. I would like to see our Soldiers lives Avenged by those who sent them there.

The lack of media outrage should not temper our own or that of the powers that be. Falluja received the kid glove treatment when the town should have been destroyed without mercy, but I grudgingly accepted that, to win the (evil) hearts of Iraqi's.

Not this time. NO! I expect the Commander in Chief to do something..something that involves the shedding of terrorists blood, not just a vacation at Gitmo.

Hang in there. John Edwards was right about one thing: we are two Americas. However, our modern day mason dixon line is not as he would envision it: instead it is one of the mind.

It is a split between Christians and Muslims/Atheists/Pagans.

It is a split between people who support American soverignty and those welcome illegal aliens so that they can exploit a Mexican by hiring him for minimum wage at his franchise of the week.

It is a split between traditional families and militant homosexual activists.

It is a split between people who want small government and people who wished they lived in the former soviet union.

In short, it is a split between people who love America and those who hate it. If you could somehow wave a magic wand and separate our two peoples into east and west, into separate nations, I have no doubt that we would find ourselves locked in mortal combat.

As fate would have it, however, we are mixed in together in one nation. We have the house of representatives, they have the senate. We have the southern states, they have the supreme court. We have the United States military, they have the Senate, Supreme Court, and Media. The White House switches back and forth depending on the issue. We're trying to take the court and the snate, they want to take the house...and so it goes. The concepts are the same as those represented at Gettysburg and Antietam, only the names and venue have changed.

True the two fallen warriors were Screaming Eagles members of the US Army. As a retired Army Officer I noticed that to. I accepted the author's words in the email for what they were; that he was as a Marine paying the highest compliment a Marine can pay to a valiant member of another service - calling them a MARINE!

Great post Wagglebee, I've been in a permanent state of rage and am waiting for fellow Americans to RISE up and put the cut-and-run crowd in their place--literally. But alas, I see no movement in that regard.

I fire off letters, emails to these scum with usually a couple of words: COWARD! TRAITOR! , so I'm sure I'm on someone's list. No matter, couldn't care less, but I sure would appreciate some like-minded fellow Americans to do likewise and literally shout them down everywhere they appear.

Some thoughts on the treatment of these soldiers.

During the Indian wars - sage advice from old head NCOs was to save the "last one for yourself" (Ditto for the Brit afgan adventures)due to the treatment at the hands of the 'savages' (back off, it was in quotes)

The Japs were pretty bad in treatment of POWs (beheading, etc)

Much later, the VC were accused of much the same treatment of captured GIs.

And today, more of the same.

All the while, the services follow the Conventions for the most part and of late, to the letter.

The only thing that would be new - if the area where this atrocity occurred had been leveled to ground level and salt sown in the land - but nobody does that today (well, 'cept the Israelis)

They were U.S. Marines. They were America's finest. They were slaughtered.

My BS meter is redlining ... the soldiers captured, tortured and beheaded were Army ... based at Fort Campbell, KY., not U.S. Marines. Inaccuracy where that important detail is concerned throws the rest of this into question, to say the least.

I accepted the author's words in the email for what they were; that he was as a Marine paying the highest compliment a Marine can pay to a valiant member of another service - calling them a MARINE!

Besides, as we all know, it doesn't matter what branch they are in. Menchaca and Tucker are still our sons. I don't know about you, but I forgive any action we may have committed on the battle field because of the way our enemy engages us.

They cut a head off without a problem. They shove privates into the mouth without trouble. If they want to act like a Barbarian, then Abu Grahb is forgivable, Hidatha (if) would be forgivable, anything that might have happened on a oil platform would be forgivable. Anything we may or may not have done to them is forgivable. How could we hold our Soldiers & Marines in contempt when we don't hold our enemy in contempt (thanks to the left)?

One more thing: I've been posting this because I believe it to be true:

The left likes to say stuff like, 'just because we disagree with Bush, you call us traitors and that is wrong'. No it is not. IF you have the Freedom to act like a traitor, then I should have the Freedom to call you a traitor.

I don't like to call people a traitor without a reason. I've posted this before, but this is my reason for calling them traitors:

Our Troops in Iraq are trying to build a relationship with the Iraqi people. We are asking the Iraqi people to be Police and Soldiers. We are asking the Iraqi people to Govern their own nation. We are asking the Iraqi people to show us where the bad guys are. Then Hack Murtha, Coward Dean, and a mess of other commie traitors stand up and yell, 'we need to pull out of Iraq!!! YEEEEHAAAAW!!!!'.

Well this makes the Iraqi Government, the Iraqi Police, the Iraqi Soldiers, and especially the Iraqi people who would like to show us where the bad guys are think twice about helping our Troops. Now, let's not forget that the terrorist threaten the Iraqi people by saying, 'if you work with the US we will kill your family'. Then when we ask the Iraqi people to help and the Iraqi people are hearing our politicians back home yelling, 'we need to pull out'. Who would you work with if you were in that situation?

The Iraqi people know that Al Quada in Iraq are not talking about pulling out. We all know that a US early withdraw is exactly what the terrorist in Iraq want. All good people know that if we withdraw now the terrorist will survive. And it don't take an genius to figure that out. Because of Murtha and Dean's words and actions, the Iraqi people will think twice about helping our Troops. The words of Murtha hurts our cause and helps the terrorist. That is treason. Therefore, Demorats like Kerry, Kennedy, Dean, and Murtha are traitors.

I said it once and I'll say it again: if you have the damn freedom to act like a traitor, then by my inalienable right I can call you a frickin' traitor!

If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

===================================================================

That remark was uncalled for.

I'm USNR, CDR (05), retired. Trust me, I know the difference between the Marines, Soldiers, as well as Airmen and Sailors. I'm also somewhat conversant with the topography of Iraq, and I follow the war closely. Still, from the initial reports and the area of operation, I was not totally certain whether these guys were Marines or Soldiers. It's now clear that they were soldiers.

It's both possible and understandable for this guy to be mistaken, and I doubt that it changes his sentiments. Calling this ex-Marine's intelligence into question is something a Kos or D.U. poser would do.

If I'm in uniform in Iraq today, and I read about this, I'm not about to be taken alive. I'm not going to be a war criminal, but I'm also not going to be looking for a reason to take the bad guys prisoner, when other alternatives present themselves.

And, I'm probably not building any more orphanages or schools. I'd be too busy looking for another opportunity to get into the action.

But that's just me, and I'm not there, and I'm not in uniform anymore. No doubt our guys in Iraq are too professional to think like I do, particularly after reading about how their fellow soldiers were emasculated, tortured for a couple of days, and beheaded.

Besides, what would REALLY motivate me would be the opportunity to be at the tip of the spear of any operation going into Syria or Iran. The bad guys in Iraq are foreigners operating with the support and direction of nation states other than Iraq. If the Democrat's didn't work 110% of the time to hamstring Bush and this country's foreign policy, we could stomp out the problem in Iran and Iraq, and the "resistance" in Iraq would whither.

But again, that's just me, and I'm no longer in uniform, and few other folks think as I do. In fact, most Ameican's probably agree with the Democrats and support the terrorists, if you read the polls.

In fact, most Ameican's probably agree with the Democrats and support the terrorists, if you read the polls.

I sometimes think like you do. I sometimes think that we have to win the hearts and minds of the people. I saw a video where the US had been in Baghdad a couple of weeks and there was no police force. So the US rounded up some old police officers and told them to do their job and our troops would provide security for them.

Next thing, this group was in the process of robbing a bank. A bunch of Iraqi's came running to the Police and US forces and told them about the robbery. The Police took off towards the bank and our Troops followed. The Police catch one of the robbers. And one of the Policeman starts beating on the robber. I mean smacking him around but good. I thought, how are we going to win the hearts and minds by busting out the big ol' can of whoop arse? Well, the Cop stops stomping the robber for a moment. Just then the people who came to the Police ran up to the robber with sticks. They thumped that thief like he was an ugly step child. I then find my self yelling, 'stomp that little scum bag into the dirt like a slimy little rodent'. Then I found myself thinking, maybe I don't know what would win the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people.

The liberals think being kind and talking will solve all your problems. And people will respect you for being nice. Maybe in their culture, respect is earned in a different manner? We need to do the math and do what is right.

When in Rome! Right?

Col "Sully".... On Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines.... On Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and...Marines! by GyG (Login Dick Gaines) Forum Owner Date: Fri, 1 Aug 2003 04:33:48 -0700 (PDT) To: R.W.GAINES To: Subject: Soldier Sometime ago in a thread you argued vociferously about the use of the term "Soldier." You were correct by the way, at least in the way I understand the use of that word to apply to Marines. When I was a callow youth, in 1951, I returned from Korea and was stationed at MB, Shumaker, Arkansas. I commanded the Guard Company, and did many other chores as any junior officer does in a command that had only four Marine officers. The base commander was a Navy captain, and almost as new as I was to the command. Anyway, I had occasion to report to the Captain as the recorder of a Board of Investigation. As I was under arms, I of course saluted, made my report, saluted again, about-faced and headed for the door. The Captain stopped me and made several complimentary remarks about my appearance and "Soldierly bearing." He also used the term "Soldier" once or twice more in referring to me. In my total ignorance, I was furious. Later that day I complained to the MC CO about the base commander referring to me as a "Soldier." My CO got a real chuckle out of my complaint, and told me that instead of the Captain demeaning me, he had instead paid me the highest compliment possible. My CO was LtCol Louis Nathaniel King, and had been a white hat in 1936 when he passed the exam for the Naval Academy, graduated from there, and chose to enter the MC. Of course, he, unlike myself, was steeped in Naval traditions and knew all about the use of the term "Soldier." On occasion I've referred to other Marines as "Soldiers," always explaining that was the highest compliment that I could call them with our "Soldiers of the sea" origins. I'm afraid that with the decline in Navy capital ships, that the MC is loosing much of its naval traditions since the chance of service as a member of a Marine Detachment has undoubtedly declined. We always said that: "A Marine was everything of a Soldier, and half a Sailor too." We also said that the reason that Marines were kept embarked in Navy ships for thirty days prior to a combat landing was that after thirty days on one of those buckets that when you got off you just had to kill someone. Wasn't really fair to the Japanese, I suppose. Please note that I always capitalize "Soldiers," "Sailors," and "Airmen." In my book they deserve the same respect that I pay to my beloved Marines. The were Americans. That's all that needed to be said.

Saw an article recently about Veterans that support Bush, media had to add "Vets with GOP ties" to the header. Never see that when it's a Vet against the war, as if they are purer. Media be damned

From the moment our soldiers were found, I waited and am still waiting to hear outrage, I am waiting to hear that the Triangle of Death will now be known as the Triangle of Rubble. A reminder to any terrorist scum who thinks about murdering any of service men and women. A young man who I watched grow up is at this moment training at Paris Island. He enlisted after 2 years in college (not a poor boy with no options), he has requested to be infantry, knowing he will be on the front lines. While I am so proud of him, I have a sick feeling in my stomach for him as well. It's not even the dying in battle that gives me the sick feeling, but of late it is the lack of regard for our military, between the butchery of these fine men and the rash of murder charges being levied against our military. I KNOW most people are behind our troops one hundred percent, they are our loved ones putting it all on the line. Yet the ones making all of the noise and getting all of the attention are clueless, what the msm and elected officials refuse understand is that these are not anonymous people over there fighting for us they are all our FAMILY. Yes, I understand the frustration and depression.

While agree this was an inaccurate statement, I fail to see how this mistake possibly throws someones OPINIONS into question.

Opinions should, at the very least, be based on fact. It's OK to have an opinion ... after all, as they use to say in the Corps, opinions are like assholes everyone has one.
To miss on the fact the tortured and brutally murdered servicemen were soldiers (Army) not Marines, especially in light of the fact the individual who wrote the article claims to be a Marine (or former Marine), tells me this is probably BS. Once again, because it's on the internet, doesn't make it gospel.

I don't get "that way" when I'm pissed. I stay calm cool and collective, or you die in this business.

sorry but that is a right we've earned and reserve the right to question another Marine, whether he is a rock, ligthning or whether he needs to see the Wizard.

What I do know is our soldiers are far more brave than I will ever be.

Join the Marines and after boot camp you will be every bit as brave as they.

" Once again, because it's on the Internet, doesn't make it gospel."

Some here are saying that because the author didn't know that the heroes were Army that the letter could be just made up by someone impersonating a solider for dramatic effect.

I need to know: is the detail of cutting off genitals and gouging out eyes true? Have any of you seen that reported any place else?

All I read else where is that they were beheaded and tortured.

I would like to pass on this information because this detail is shocking and shows the evil we are up against, but if these details are just made up, I would rather not spread this.

It has been reported, originating several sources, in this forum for the past several days. The fact DNA testing was used to identify the soldiers bodies, in itself, tells you a great deal ... after all they were alive when taken prisoner. My problem with this particular post is the author, supposedly a Marine, missed out on a pivotal fact to his story ... the two individuals captured were soldiers (Army) not Marines as he claimed. That casts doubt on the entire story.

Yes, it does. A word of caution to those that say we shouldn't question the word of this "Marine," there are plenty of posers out there.
