The USA and England are I believe, are the only two countries that have outlawed slavery in 5,000 years.

I believe Mexico also outlawed it, that was the reason the Texans revolted.

The USA and England are I believe, are the only two countries that have outlawed slavery in 5,000 years. That is why there is slavery in Poland and other European countries.

Maybe we need a death penalty for slave ownership, slaving and transportation of slaves, along with special protections for people fleeing slavery or reporting?

Free market and secularism leads us back into slavery The secularism part is certainly an issue - but there is no freedom without property rights.

In the Texas Revolution of 1835-36, American colonists in Texas secured the independence of that area from Mexico and subsequently established a republic. Since the 1820s many settlers from the United States had colonized Texas; by the 1830s they far outnumbered the Texas Mexicans. Mexican dictator Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna attempted to reverse this trend by such measures as abolishing slavery. The settlers rebelled (originally as part of a general federalist resistance to Santa Anna's Centralist government, which had overthrown the Mexican Constitution of 1824). Hostilities began at Gonzales on Oct. 2, 1835; the Texans repelled a Mexican force sent to disarm them and won subsequent victories.

Thomas Sowell talks about the issue of slavery and Protestant Christianity (well, Christianity in the Protestant era) in Black Rednecks and White Liberals.

While many have heard Islam is the fastest-growing religion around the world, fewer are aware that eighty percent of converts to Islam are women. But a good amount of those conversions, at least in muslim-dominated areas, involve kidnappings and forced conversions or reluctant conversions due to safety concerns. Having said that, any women living in a civilized nation who voluntarily converts is either insane or afflicted with a level of stupidity that should preclude reproduction.

One of the surprises of the 21st century is the revival of slavery around the world.Sure, it's a surprise to anyone who buys into the liberal, humanist lie that mankind is "progressing" and "evolving" into something better with the passage of time.
To: SF Republican
That does not prove your point. It proves his since it shows that the slavery thing was just one in a series of moves deliberately designed to annoy Anglo Texans.

Free market and secularism leads us back into slavery You are throwing around contradictions. Freedom in the market is not slavery.
Frankly, I would rather put my freedom in the hands of a constitutional government rather than wait for God, Christian or Muslim. How many centuries did Europeans live as serfs? I would think the allegiance made between cleric and noble cinched the bond that shackled the serfs. The Renaissance man used secular means to lift Europe to heights humans never knew under the Church. If you doubt the heavy handedness of the Church, think about the rise of all those Protestant sects.
The problem now is that Marxists have captured many collective social organs. Churches are among them. Everywhere you see meddlers telling us - we the people - how we should live, you are likely looking at a Marxists. They are in teachers unions, universities, endowment trusts, psychological associations, bar associations, government worker associations, Unitarian Churches, and yes the clergy.
