I think he's saying 'global warming' and then pushing for drilling in Alaska, new refineries, nuclear power plants. The libs will be so confused.

Bush signed on with Japan and some other countries? to voluntarily work towards limiting C02. It was over a year ago.

You got that right. These statements are extremely irresponsible coming from a President. A goon like Gore, okay- but Bush?

You got that right, and he's not even running for anything, nor does he have anything to run for.

This constant pandering to the vast unwashed, uneducated, and loony left is really annoying.

Now I gotta look it up. He signed some dumb ass environmental accord in South America. I thought it was about freon.

Hmm, been looking, not really sure but it looks as if, gasp, I could be wrong.

Oh well, help me out here. What was it that his administration signed in SA that was "environment related"?

"Global warming" has even greater potential for ridiculousity than the Endangered Species Act. Temperature change is normal for climates, just as extinction is a normal part of species evolution. We've tried putting entire industries into recession to save some owl habitat. The result was absurdity on a grand scale. Now we'll do the same because it was a degree warmer than a decade ago? It's a recipe for corruption and billions in makework legal action. What a silly waste of resources. And all brought to you by know-it-all idiots, most of whom have never read a scientific study, much less created a job, in their lives.

George Bush is about to get a climate change because his feet are going to be held to the fire by the vigilantees who want the border secured and the oil addicted populace to want more domestic energy supply developed.

"The truth of the matter is, if this country wants to get rid of its greenhouse gases, we've got to have the nuclear power industry be vibrant and viable," he said.

Yep, looks like GW has been reading my posts on the subject, thanks Mr. President! This can be a conservative cause folks, no need for the knee-jerk.

You are correct. He is on the offensive now in the debate by recommending clean coal and nuclear.

From www.federalist.com:

More than 17,000 scientists, to date, have signed a petition sponsored by Dr. Frederick Seitz, past president of the National Academy of Sciences, refuting Gore's claims that global warming is human-induced. The petition states: "There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth."

Renowned meteorologist Dr. William Gray, in a recent interview with Discover Magazine (which has advocated the theory of human-induced global warming), says: "This human-induced global-warming thing... is grossly exaggerated... I'm not disputing there has been global warming. There was a lot of global warming in the 1930s and '40s, and then there was global cooling in the middle '40s to the early '70s. Nearly all of my colleagues who have been around 40 or 50 years are skeptical... about this global-warming thing. But no one asks us." (Gray was described by Discover Magazine's editors as one of "the world's most famous hurricane experts.")

Commenting on the misuse of science to support political agendas, Harvard's Dr. Malcolm Ross concludes of such folly, "Freeze or fry, the problem is always industrial capitalism, and the solution is always international socialism."

Did you know that the petition was accompanied by a publication which mimicked the style of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences -- so much so, that the NAS had to issue a statement distancing themselves from the petition and Dr. Seitz?

Did you know that the signatures on the petition were not screened or monitored in any way, such that there are numerous fake and bogus signatures, and also that most of the "scientists" are MDs or engineers?

If you didn't know that, then you should.
