Smokers' airline ready for take-off

A German businessman has founded an airline dedicated to smokers.

Smintair, or Smokers' International Airways, aims to cater for smokers who feel excluded in an age when all major airlines have banned the habit.

A Dusseldorf-Tokyo service is due to begin in October and is expected to serve mainly Japanese businessmen.

Smintair's founder, Alexander Schoppmann, a 30-a-day man, said: "There are no laws banning smoking on board. The airlines have made these rules themselves because no-smoking planes are cheaper. It means you don't have to change the air filter system so regularly."

"Yes it could be us next."

What, a drive to stop homeschooling in public places?

WOW! What an awesome comparison.

It's heartening to know that there are people out there who can actually see the forest through the trees.

I thought a Flag Ship carrier was the one that carried the flag of that nation (i.e. government-affiliated), which would not include the ones you mentioned.

Well, actually you are right.  It is the carrier of any country that has their own airlines.  I am so stuck on the United States that what I wrote came out wrong.

So, yes, you are right.  i.e. Egyptian Air is the "flag carrier" of Egypt, etc.  Thank you! :)

Am I the only one that remembers McClain(sp?) Airlines from the mid-80's???

NYC-Midway-to Phx/L.a. after the original smoking ban. I think they lasted 6 months?

Security becomes the responsibility of the passengers.

If you can stand the language full of "F-bombs" and other assorted language not usually heard in polite company

The Kid From Brooklyn expounds on Bat Day at Yankee Stadium and airline security.

Never heard of them.  And I was a SATO Travel Agent from 86 until 94 when Loring AFB closed.  But I never heard of them.

We've been great!

There's no hot water in my house right now (I got the last tepid shower yesterday), so after I beat my children into getting their math done (not really) we have to get a new Hot water tank.

Some people call it a house, I call it my wallet because it's where my money goes.

ROFL!!!!!

I know the cold shower routine, went through it a few weeks back. Not because we need a new heater, but because we ran out of oil :(

I've got two 8 year olds (well mine will be 8 on sunday) wrapped up in my bathrobes watching TV - they had been playing in mud puddles........

but that is toooo much fun!

Luckily, we started swimming lessons last week. Tonight, everyone has a hair washing in the school's showers!

Of course it's fun!!!!

That's why I told the other girl's mom to send her with dry clothes to change into!!!

We're such bad moms....our children are actually allowed to get dirty - for shame.........

" 'Some' of our fellow FREEPERS are not so tolerate of we that smoke. "

I don't smoke -- never have, never will. I hate the smell of the stuff in a restaurant. But the legislation that outlaws smoking in privately owned restaurants and bars is the worst sort of liberal, feel-good, big-gov't power grab ever. No conservative person would ever go for something like that.

Also, smoking is not a moral issue. It cracks me up that good church-going people think smoking is some sort of sin because it is harmful to the Temple but they think nothing of going for a supersize combo at McD's.
