I predict a Cannon win by a margin of 52.0 percent to 48.0 percent.

The polls don't close out there for a while yet. Still, thanks for the link. If John Jacob's foot-in-mouth episode doesn't put off too many voters, then we'll see Americans take a stand in favor of border security & national sovereignty.
That being said, Chris Cannon should do well in Salt Lake County.

That sounds like a good estimate, although I hope you're wrong about the winning candidate.

Good call.
KSL should have the best links.

According to the
Trib, low turnout (which seems amazing for such a high profile race), and a slow count. So this thread might not get much action for two or three hours. Does anyone know whether Utah counts absentee ballots before hand, and posts the results soon after the polls close, and what percentage of the votes absentee ballots typically make up of the total?

All I know about the absentee ballots is that you had to register as a Republican 1 month ago to vote absentee in this primary.

This is weird. Low turnout, electronic votes and slow count. I would have thought it would be fairly fast.

For what it's worth, every good conservative I know in Utah voted for Cannon today!
To: Dane
If Cannon goes down, I bet we can expect the MSM to remind everyone that he was a House Impeachment Manager, as in "Another Clinton Impeachment Manager Bites the Dust." Yep, those Utah GOP voters took trying to impeach Clinton out on his hide... 8 freaking years later. :)
To: Texasforever
Per a google, Utah as of 2004 counted absentee ballots on election day, or the Monday after election day. It does not have the California system, of counting them before election day. So this might be one boring thread for a long time. Pity.

This might be an entertaining thread. :) Of course only the PST folks might be around to chat about actual results. But maybe someone did an exit poll. Keep hope alive.

Watch the Chafee primary in September. You'll probably find most of the Cannon supporters on those as well saying it's our duty to back the RINO.

I don't have much hope of knowing the outcome before I have to call it quits on Central time.
But with as much hype as went into this race, and as fractured as FR was over it, it should be an entertaining thread. You guys out west have a lot of advantages. Everything happens before you have to hit the sack.

I agree. Cannon got the message loud and clear regardless if he loses or wins. If he starts with the pro-illegal BS he's toast for sure in 2008.

Cannon is toast anyway. If he pulls it out tonight, the game is back on again first thing tomorrow.

This will indeed be a "referendum" on the immigration issue, won't it?
Funny how the media ignores this race.
