The Dems have done a classic Clinton on the Swift Boat guys.
By focusing on the Purple Heart issue, they've pulled the discussion away from JFKerry's anti-war activism (as you'll recall, Clinton focused on his draft dodging to pull attention away from Jennifer Flowers).
The MSM followed suite, and most Americans who haven't read the book think that the Swift guys simply attack the battle records. Of course, those of us who read the book (which obviously didn't include Chris Matthews on the absolutely last time I'll ever watch MS-NBC) know that the real damaging stuff is the anti-war activism.

I don't see why he persists, unless the poor schmuck really thinks the Dems will ride a proven loser in 2008. The comment "seared in my memory" with respect to a Nixon administration that hadn't taken office yet sending him on a covert (and hence undocumented) secret mission to Cambodia during the Christmas of 1968 is so blatantly in error that one suspects its source might be in the comic books. It may well be that he has told that lie so often he truly believes it himself, but then Kerry has told a lot of lies about Vietnam with a straight face for a lot of years.

Still, the nastiest of the posters over there on the professional left still believe "traitors must die".
No doubt we can make common cause with such folk against the New York Times eh?! (/sarcasm)

Mate your words are far to kind for Kerry but then, this is a family safe forum for the most part.
Get 3 Fosters in me and I might be able to make a crusty ships hand to actually blush.

INDEED!
And, they have absolutely no right to tarnish, malign and abuse a normally innocent and decent phrase like:
"quixotic mission."
I realize it's technically accurate given his futile, delusional, Marxist, Machiavellian, global tyranny absurdities.
However, I doubt there's a truly selfless, kind, chivalrous bone or thought in his derranged, robotic body.
HARUMPH!

This inveterate windbag is, according to the New York Times, reopening the Swift Boat controversy of 2004 that did such damage to his presidential prospects when hundreds of the Vietnam War veterans who served with him deflated his reckless boasts of military gloire.

"Yes, indeed- John Kerry thinks it's 1971 all over again. Yesterday, on "Face the Nation"
John Kerry once again slams American troops- Check it out-
"And there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the-of-the historical customs, religious customs."
Here is the transcript for "Face the Nation"-
http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/face_120405.pdf
You will find this statement at the bottom of page 4 and the top of page 5.
"When former Attorney General Ramsey Clark isnt defending Saddam Hussein, or giving speeches for the crypto-Stalinist International ANSWER, hes acting as counsel for the Palestine Liberation Organization, trying to prevent families of murdered Jews from collecting on judgments against the PLO."
Little Green Footballs ^ | November 28, 2005 | Charles Johnson
From Kerry's "The New Soldier":
Al Hubbard Sgt., 22 Troop Carrier Squadron Aug. 65-June 66
Emotions: Walking down the flight line at Saigon past stacks of aluminum cases containing American bodies and past stacks of aluminum luggage containing American currency. Seeing the tight, sad face of an Airman loading the bodies aboard a dirty Air Force Transport and the wide smiling face of a stewardess greeting the passengers aboard a clean Pan American Clipper Jet. Hearing a Vietnamese beg you to leave his country and an American colonel tells you to bomb his country. Hearing a Vietnamese invite you to live in his home, after the war and an American explain why you cant live in his block, after the war. Flying over barren, brown, safe American held terrain and over lush, green unsafe enemy terrain. Feeling happy to be leaving a country in which you do not belong and sad to be returning to a country in which you are not allowed to belong. Sacrificing a portion of your consciousness so you wont have to deal with being there and building mental blocks so you wont have to deal with having been there.
- Al Hubbard, proven fraud who never set foot in Viet Nam. The only Vietnamese he ever met was when he was collaborating with the North Vietnamese in Paris on the American Communist Party's nickel.
John Kerry's explanation: "He (Hubbard) simply exaggarated his particular position.
But nobody knew it at the time.
And those things happen."
