CHICAGO, June 30 (UPI) -- Chicago White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen, fined for using a gay slur against a columnist, says he'll spend an off-day at the Gay Games on July 17. He also plans to attend sensitivity training sessions soon, the Chicago Sun- Times reported.
Guillen said he had already planned to attend the Gay Games, and his visit is not related to the trouble he got into with Major League Baseball for calling Sun-Times columnist Jay Mariotti a "fag" during a locker room interview.
Guillen has apologized.
Is he going to throw out the first balls?
I long for the day when someone of note has the balls to stand up to the PC tyrants.
What a steaming pile of horse manure. He had this planned all along? He thought, "Wow, a day off from travel and ballpark crap - I've got time with the family - I think I'm going to the Gay Games!"
Ozzie just needs to make an apology (whatever) and stop pandering to the media gods of political correctness.
John Kerry will be there to throw out the first gerbil.
And if you believe that....
will 'Pony Boy' John Edwards play catcher?
The White Sox need another reliever. Maybe he is scouting new talent....

Mr Guillen got himself in hot water again when asked about his plans to attend the Gay Games.
"In my spare time I like to watch homo athletes. I love the fruitty little b#$tards."
Jeez Ozzie, that is sooo gay.
I don't think many people realize that he was quoted OFF THE RECORD. These media people published this when he casually spoke to them with the cameras off, pens and papers put away, no recording...
Also, go to the SUN TIMES and read the articles MarROTti wrote in the days before hand. This is only a handfull of his crap. He is a constant anti-sox reporter for as long as I can remember.
I'm a die hard WS fan. My advice to Ozzie is smarten up and don't trust those reporters ever again....
It all just gets more perverted -- non-stop queer-mania.
Just remember this the next time someone says that the terrorists hate us for our "freedoms." The most basic freedom is freedom of speech. Freedom of speech simply does not exist in this country anymore.
Watch out, the next thing you'll be reading is that Guillen has found himself a husband at the Gay Games and they'll be going to Boston next week to get married.
If he had dissed a brother where would he have to go?
You got it ... wait till you see his mitt!
The Gay Pentathalon:
100m Sashay.
Pole Vault.
Wrestling (Nude).
Butt Darts.
Clean and Jerk.
switch-hitters no doubt
Orwellian, to say the least.
What if he smoked? Would he be bannished to never-never land with all of the fairies?
is this Scrappleface?
As a Cub fan, I should be ecstatic about this mess (especially this weekend), but I have a lot of respect for Ozzie's tenacity and ability to motivate (something Dusty Baker doesn't know much about). He should've been more careful, but this is just so much over-reaction on the part of the White Son (who I'm sure pressured him to go).
Woops! White SOX, not White SON! (lol)
I read the pole vault and wrestling venues were sold out. What kind of baton is used in the 400 meter relay?
And, afterwards, he'll take in a WNBA game...
Indeed. Especially those guy who can perform in long and short relief.
I think it's only far to let Dusty stay now that he is close to having his full team back.
I think it's time to trade Pryor as he's not panning out to be the pitcher we expected for the Cubs, maybe someplace else but not here...
Kerry is finished. I don't see him pitching anywhere.
I wonder if in the history of the world any queer has ever been required to attend sensitivity training because of their hatred for heteros (or breeders as they say). Somehow I doubt it.
I don't see much of anything good happening on the North Side. It's incredibly hilarious that the only guy that seems to know what's going on with the Cubs is Steve Stone. He predicted quite accurately that 1) Kerry Wood is a mechanical disaster better suited to selling cars, and 2) Prior was hiding an injury since last season.
Wood is done with the Cubs unless he accepts a low-ball, incentive-laden offer for next year. Prior, we're stuck with for now. Essentially, we're looking at AT LEAST another one hundred years of futility.
Wonder if he will also be wearing pink. Or maybe yellow for caving into them.
You're right. The guy knows alot about baseball, much more so than Kenny Williams. I think he'd make a great GM for the CUBs, but for some reason he's not well liked.
I am with the Thought Police. May I see your papers, please?
I am a White Sox fan, but I bet the White Sox would get better results from Prior and Wood than the Cubs would. Don Cooper, the White Sox pitching coach as performed wonders with other pitchers in similar situations. A great example is this guy- Thornton they picked up for Joe Borchard. He was horrible for Seattle and is performing fairly well for the Sox. Even Jenks was a discard from the Angels and has tremendously improved as a White Sox.
Coaching can make a huge difference. Sounds like the Cubs need a change, at least of pitching coaches.
I bet they will never come out of the locker room.
I don't know but it probably vibrates.
I agree with that. I'm a little curious what he's going to do with Javier Vazquez. His whole career has been based on inconsistency, and he's gotta be driving Cooper to drink the way he's been pitching of late. Jenks was an extraordinary pickup. He was so highly regarded with the Angels, and then he had the arm injury and everyone wrote him off.
The Cubs need a new front office, and someone new on the bench. Whatever can be said for Dusty Baker, he's lost the ability to break these guys out of the rut they're in. He's not wielding much authority and that's the kiss of death. I think Dusty will be canned before July is out.
Bet he can't wait for interleague play against the Pittsburgh Butt Pirates.
A Baton Rouge.
I was really ticked off when they traded away El Duque for Vazquez. After I looked at both of their numbers for this year though, Vazquez' numbers are better than El Duque's and El Duque was traded again to the Mets. It sort of looks like the Sox got equal or slightly better value. Last year El Duque was out for a lot of the season with injuries and only in the post season did he turn things around in the bull pen. In hindsight, they had to deal El Duque and Vazquez was about the best they could get. When he pitches, it is kind of a Jeckle/Hyde thing, good one day, barely there the next. You just don't have consistancy.
Vazquez is younger and should be around longer if they do keep him. Quite frankly, I would not be disappointed if they put him in the bull pen and made McCarthy the 5th starter. The Sox management is pro-active. If he remains a problem, he will be dealt.
I think in the case of the Cubs, the GM is the main issue. You can't fault the manager when he has poor talent to deal with. Jim Leland is doing some good things in Detroit this year and look at the awful year he had last year. The manager gets a great deal of the blame, but if you don't have the horses, you aren't going to win.
Say what you will about the White Sox, but the GM is aggressive in bringing fresh talent to the team. The better teams are always pursuing the best talent. It almost reminds me of the days the Cubs were owned by old man Wrigley. He was just too cheap to go out and get the best.
Ozzie Guillen is a fag for caving in like a pantywaist pillow-biting puffer. I bet he likes basketball because of the swishes. Someone take his Guy Club card away.
"John Kerry will be there to throw out the first gerbil."
He will, then he won't, then he will.
